Candy Pants

I saw a segment on the news about saving money for Halloween. Most of the stuff they said is the same stuff I say like buy only accessories to make a costume with regular clothes like buying devil accessories to go with red clothes. To buy Halloween things at the dollar store. One of the things they said was really stupid. They said to buy you candy on Halloween day, and to get any kind. According to them the kids don’t care about the candy. Huh?! When did kids not care about candy on Halloween? Kids always complain about what they get. Especially if the candy is not name brand. I hated getting cheap candy. Like those strawberry candies or Tomy candy. They said it didn’t matter if you didn’t even like the candy you bought. I might buy candy I don’t like if I knew somebody else I knew liked it. I don’t like Butterfingers, but I would buy a bag of them and give them to my dad. So if it was leftover I could give it to him. I want good leftover candy I would eat.

I wasn’t that picky as a kid about what I got. I didn’t care if I got things that weren’t candy like chips, pretzels, toys or pencils. I don’t like that ginger candy that comes in the red packaging. I’d get that a lot when I lived in a Chinese neighborhood. I remember one year my cousins Trick or Treated in my neighborhood and also complained about getting the ginger candy.

I remember when I was in 6th grade I wanted to pawn off my “bad” candy aka the candy I didn’t want. Two girls didn’t want the candy then they ganged up on me and poured the candy down my pants *shakes fist at them* They did it by the classroom door; the teacher came to the class and complained that there was a bunch of discarded candy by the door.

I was thinking about what happened to Dan in Gossip Girl by upsetting a lot of the people he knows by basing characters off them. I hope that doesn’t happen to me.

Why didn't you Tell me Before I Went?

Before I went to the job interview my mom and I got into an argument about wearing perfume or not. This website says you shouldn't. But after I thought about it that site posts a lot of bad information like their potatoes delmonico recipe. Plus those laughable guides on how to make a Rainbow Brite and Strawberry Shortcake costume.

At the interview I noticed a girl had a really fancy resume with all these graphics and her name in a fancy font. That's wrong, right? I think I need to make my resume look better by using a bigger font. Like when a person writes one paragraph on a page, and they use a size 26 font so it fills up most of the page.

Why do companies do this?

They act like you should know what they are thinking when you get there, and they don't tell you anything.

The guy asks me where I want to work at, and then tells me there are no job at that location. But there are some open at a location really far from me. I was not going to work at that location even if I could drive. It would not be worth it. Not for minimum wage and the driving distance.

Why bother listing that a location is hiring if they are not?

It would be like if I wanted to work at a local Burger King. When I go to the interview they tell me only Burger King restaurants in Miami Florida are hiring and not the local ones in California.

The guy conducting the interview tells me that I should have known 2 weeks ago that they were hiring at my desired location.

I really wish I did have psychic abilities so I would know which jobs were just a bust and waste of time.

Maybe I'll just chalk this up as a loss and post another (purposely) pathetic craigslist ad.

It wasn't a complete waste of time since the place I was interviewd at sold some good candy and I finally tried those raspberry dollar candies after all these years. They are very good.

Let's Call the Easter Bunny!

I was online looking for a very specific commercial I'm looking for a 1-900 or 976 number to call the Easter Bunny and it's not the ones on youtube I saw those and none of those are the one. I'll say it aired somewhere between 86-88. It had a very effective jingle; and had the words "party", "bunny" and "fun" in the jingle. My mom recalls a cheeky girl in the commercial saying that if the kids didn't ask permission they'd get a spanking. Apparently somebody else is looking for that commercial too. (Read the comments. The commercial with the bunny painting is not the one!) I really want to find it because I called that number.

I think my nails are too long. I got one of them caught in the keyboard.

I went to the mall.

There was Glee nail polish, but none of the colors appealed to me. Strangely there was no McKinley High or Cheerios red.

They upped the amount of the Sanrio service card now it is $5 instead of $1. It'll take me forever to fill one out! I bet the prizes are still worth the same. It went from $50 to $250! I remember the old cards that were 35 spaces or $35.

There was some ok Easter candy at the candy store, but it was fresher than the stuff that's been sitting there for months. Sometimes I poke the candy with the tongs or scooper to see if it's fresh. A few months ago I bought some stale watermelon jellies.

Absurd Sandwich

I tried the Fried Cheese Melt sandwich at the Denny's. It was really good, but adding some bacon would make it better. They give some side dipping sauces with it, I think there should be some kind of sauce inside it. The 2 sauces they give are marinara and ranch. I passed on the marinara since I hate red sauce. Since the mozzarella is in breaded stick form and not just another kind of melted cheese the sandwich is a little squirty. After I ate it I remembered that Friendly's sandwich everybody was upset about a while ago. I never ate at Friendly's there are none in my area.

If somebody really wanted to eat something fatty they would order the Fried Cheese Melt sandwich with the appetizer sampler plate that comes with onion rings, mozzarella sticks and chicken.

I was also thinking about how to replicate it at home or improve on it.

I picked up a bag of Hi chew in assorted flavors; green apple, strawberry and orange. I paid $1.99 for a bag is that too much? I can't remember if I had tasted the orange and strawberry varieties. The orange one is very fragrant. I wrote about Hi chew before. The blog about it is posted in the archives.

My dad bought these to try. He thought they were just Oreos with colored frosting. They are not they have crushed up candy cane pieces in the frosting. I thought they were really gross. He couldn't taste the peppermint flavor, and it's really strong. I've said before he has no taste.

My Review

When the package arrived, the festive atmosphere was  instantly set with the smell of chocolate in the air and the wonderfully decorated packages; no wrapping paper needed. I felt very spoiled and royal to receive such luxurious chocolates. The chocolates themselves are adorable, classy, ravishing . . . and oh so delightfully delicious. Yum!

Included with the package of chocolates was a thank you card . . . how sweet!

Pretzel M&Ms

I like pretzels Mr. Salty use to be one of my favorite brands. I also like those pretzels that are filled with peanut butter. I’m not going to write about pretzels too much.

I like pretzels and chocolate. The pretzel segment of the Take 5 bar is my favorite.

I thought that pretzel M&Ms would be just as good as the discontinued crispy variety. Those were my favorite variety of all time. I was very sad when they were discontinued. I heard they taste the same. Sorry to say they don’t. I should stop reading the message board I read that on. It also said that Annie’s Macaroni is better than Kraft. To me it’s not. I love my blue box. This is not a macaroni blog, so I won’t go into more detail comparing the 2.

The pretzel M&Ms are too salty. I know they wouldn’t taste crispy. They don’t taste anything like the old crispy variety. I tried to take a picture of the candy, but it didn't come out. I had to use an image search to find a picture of the candy. They are oddly shaped, and not uniform.
A message to the Mars candy company please get rid of pretzel and bring back crispy.

No lazy memoir today.

I have such a hard time shopping. My mom and my shopping styles clash. She is a driver and I'm an expressive. Except when I'm buying electronics; I'm an analytical. I've been sold too many bad electronics. I need to buy some supplies for my Halloween costume. It's already July, and I need supplies. Well the supplies I can get now. I think I might have to pick up a white turtle neck in a few months.

I'm going to post this question on the blog. If you something broke (like a cell phone or such something replaceable) and you didn't have the money at the moment to replace it. Would you "beg, borrow or steal"? to get another one?

I bought some of these gummi raspberries at the mall. I didn't like them.

Have you seen clips of this show Photon? It's freaky. I don't remember this show since it came out in 1986. It looks pretty cheesey. There is not much I can find about the series on the internet. Matt did review it on X-E a while ago. Which makes me wonder what the live action American version of Sailor Moon would have been like? I was thinking about that Sailor Moon episode "VR Madness" (I'm using the dub title). Which make me think about an idea I had a few years ago for a haunted VR/laser tag arcade. Ok, I got the idea from watching that Sailor Moon episode.

Didn't George Stenibrenner find a fitting day to pass away on? The MLB All Star Game, and a year an American League team is hosting. I thought about how he was portrayed on Seinfeld and voiced by Larry David. I was gonna use a quote from "The Jimmy" episode, but it was too long. Here is a quote from "The Muffin Tops" "How do you make that alcoholic chicken?".

I actually watched part of the game. I really wasn't planning to. I only wanted to see Amber Riley/Mercedes from Glee sing the national anthem. Too bad Gwen didn't do it. She is an Anaheim native. After all these years the National League team won an All Star Game. They hadn't won since 1996! I was 12 back then.

Half Charmed Phone

I was upset that one of the charms off my phone broke off. :( Now I only have one charm on it. That is a sign I need to get some new charms and a new phone. Luckily the charm broke off in my pocket, so I didn't completely lose it.

Here is something funny the teller at the bank had same first name as me. She wasn't wearing a name tag. But how hard is it to find somebody with the same first name as me?

Bought some of those pretzel M&Ms. Maybe I'll post a blog on them. I heard they are like the crispy ones which were sadly discontinued. They were my favorite variety. :(

I've been studying pictures of Rainbow Brite and Tickled Pink (old style) to see how I can make a Tickled Pink costume. I want it to be modest though. I wonder if I can get away with wearing pink Converse with the costume. I'm hoping that can be my costume for next Halloween 2011.

I think I should post a book review soon. I was going to post it a while ago, but I kept forgetting.

I heard security is a stable job. Maybe I should get into that. I do have to get a card. Last time I applied for a security job I didn't take it because my dad told me not to. I stupidly listened to him. This was back in 2004.

The Presentation was Over I survived

Let's talk about celebrity deaths Jose Lima died recently. I thought I'd post about him since I know who he was. He was a baseball player, and played for the Dodgers for a while. Also Brittany Murphy's husband died. I'm just gonna mention him cause he was famous.

Ok now let's move onto something else. My sales presentation was today. I was nervous all morning.

I was dressed like a banker. :P I had to dress nice. I really wanted to wear a Tootsie Roll shirt. That was the candy I was selling. I was wearing the same outfit I wore to the Ferguson taping. I thought I looked sort of professional. It bothered me that I had no pockets, so I had to use my purse. I hate using a backpack and a purse. There is too much bulkiness. After all these years of not using a backpack and purse together using them just feels strange to me. I just kept flicking it.

In class the teacher said my work improved. I was sort of relived and nervous that I was going second to last. I was in class preparing all my stuff. When it was my turn I had to talk about Tootsie Rolls, and eat one in front of the class. It was hard for me to talk of course and everybody was laughing. I gave samples. So did somebody else who presented bottled water. Too bad there weren't any free iphone or macbook samples. :( LOL! @-@ I told the class I give Tootsie Rolls for Halloween and they laughed. I think I did well. Not like an A presentation; maybe a B. But I was more confident than when I gave my WWE presentation.

Candy is Dandy

I've been mentioning all week about trying to stir up promotion for something. Well it was that book it read; The Los Angeles Diaries. Anyway since the publishing house closed down Mr. Brown has enlisted the class in helping to promote his book.

The consensus among my class was to somehow get the book into Oprah’s hands. Personally I think it’s a bad idea to do that. Can you imagine how many things are sent to Oprah to get her to approve them? What if we just wear sweater capes and listen to calypso music instead? Using a talk show as a vehicle is not a bad idea. Have him be a guest on a show. Doesn’t matter which show day time, late night, local or national whatever. Just to get his name out there.

I think it was last Tuesday or maybe Wednesday when I started to think about the song "Cherry Lips". It made me think about how the song is based off a book. Later that day I started researching songs that are based off/inspired by books. There are quite a few of them, and I only found the well known ones.

It was just something I was kicking around in my head that week. It made me think about that lame public relations class I took like 6 years ago? I remembered how the teacher or other people would bring in people (clients) for the class to work with. The majority of the time we worked with personal trainers.

The reason I didn’t tell the memoir class my idea was because I thought it was too silly. At least I didn’t say something like “Where fitness is an obsession” or something like that. Wait I’m working on promoting an author. That won’t work for him. Maybe he’s a personal trainer too. No, wait don’t answer that.

I ended up contacting Mr. Brown and telling him about my song idea. He liked it, but there was really nothing we could do about it now. I never told my class this because the song idea never really got used. I'd write a song about the book if I was musically inclined.

Here was my other idea I was going to try and sell the book to my sales class for my project. The assignment is for each person to sell something to the class. It has to be a real product though. It's a good thing I don't have to sell fake cola or some pants I altered. That's really hard. Anyway the teacher said it's really hard to sell something like a book. Not that I'm lazy (ok maybe a little), but I'm a novice sales person, so it would be easier to sell something else. Other things I wanted to sell that would be too hard were movies, bands, and celebrities. The teacher said they were too hard, and wacky. Yesterday I went to the dollar store to look at some things I could sell. I thought candy was good and cheap. I made this huge list of different types of candy. The teacher said that I was really into candy. Candy is like my drug. We had to get the item approved by the teacher anyway. It had to be school appropriate. She said people in her former classes tried to sell things like alcohol and weapons. Which are not allowed on campus.

I made a list for myself not look like a good student or anything. It just helped me get my ideas out. I wanted to see which things were a good idea to sell and a bad idea. When I'm not prepared and don't make a list I end up signing myself up for a bad thing to present. Trust me I know from experience. I've done that twice already.

We have to dress like a salesperson. I don't dress uh...well. Maybe I'll ask the teacher for guidelines about that. I wouldn't want to wear anything too outrageous or distracting.

I did not score a -11 on my test. I ended up missing 3, but the extra credit made it a perfect score. I just guessed on some of the answers. The questions are true/false. I have 50/50 chance of getting it right. When the teacher said I got a high score I thought the test belonged to the other girl in the class with the same first name. I think I gave the teacher a confused look.

I'm still going to try and promote the book. I'll just have to think of other ways.

Happy Easter Earthquake!

I forgot it was Easter today. Bad me! I don't know I guess it's sort of lost it's whimsical child-like magic. I'm still holding out for that $120 Hello Kitty basket from the Sanrio store. Maybe one year I'll buy one for myself.

The funny thing is that I haven't eaten Peeps all day. The small box of pink ones are tempting me, but I like my Peeps "aged". I don't have them fight either.

What about that earthquake!? The funny thing is that my mom felt it before I did. I was leaning over on my bed reaching for something. It was long, fluid/wavy, and weak. Well in my area at least. The My Little Ponies I have up that fell during the last quake didn't even topple. The funny thing is I didn't immediately flee like I usually do.

I cut my finger chopping shrimp, so please excuse my bad typing.

I just want to say a quick thing about writing. I don't know why,but I seem to find inspiration for my stories everywhere. It's strange, but in a good way.

40 Days & 40 Dozen

It hasn't really been 40 days of rain, but after days and days of it and 8 inches of it, it feels like 40 days have passed. It didn't get quite this bad......but had it kept it up, it would have.....










Today however the Sun is going to shine and here it is getting started........

I've kept very busy during all the days of being shut in. I made this wreath for the inside of the front door......

I have baked all kinds of goodies and made candy............Seems like 40 dozen

These are Cream Cheese Fruit Pound Cakes........They have a Vanilla/Rum Sauce Glaze on them.

There are 3 different kinds of cookies here...........

These are Rum Balls..........

This is Manna, a really simple candy. You melt an 11 ounce bag of butterscotch morsels
in a glass bowl in the microwave. Stir in 1 cup of peanut butter. Add 6 cups of corn flakes.

Stir the mix up well and form into balls or drop spoon fulls on wax paper. It taste like Butter Finger Candy Bars. You can also make it with chocolate morsels.

Today I'm making Date Loaves and fudge............

I've been a Good For Nothing Blogger these last few weeks but I have to get this all done by the weekend..........Then I'll be back on a regular basis.
