GTS - Green Thumb Sunday

Last week I was in my home town again. It was a very sad week because my Mom left us. She was 81 years old.
But in all that grief there was a hint for hope, a sign of new life although in the meanwhile winter has us firmly in his grip again. In a garden I found these...

A Few More Treasures

I thought I'd share some of the other treasures I found last week while down visiting my brother. I can't wait to go back again. Gotta save my pennies, so I can bring home the adorable sock elephant I found and so much more!

Here's the rest of the loot I brought home. My favorite is the repro china head doll that I've named Josianne. I just love that name and I think it fits her. Miss Joisanne needs a new dress desperately as you can see by her scanty outfit she came in. (Oh and yes--that peach color is the color of our bedroom and the bathroom and the hallway--one of these days I would love to change it and no I'm not the one who painted it that color. LOL! ).

A little bit closer view of Josianne.....

......also found the cute little plastic jewlery box, a china hand for my hand collection and a pretty little doily with pink and white roses that I need to work on blocking....and I love Josianne's little pudgey legs!......

......a pink dresser box, pink rose teacup and a pink heart pincushion. I love these heart pincushions and have about 5 or 6 from very small to this larger one. I need oh about 50 or so more for my collection before it's complete. ;) ......

.....now this little piece I found a while back and hadn't shared it yet and my sister Rhonda wanted to see it. It's a little perfume bottle I had in the early 60's when I was about 5 years old and my mother was an Avon Lady----Ding Dong Avon Calling!--Anyone remember that! .......

.....then I found this beautiful blue and white platter. It fits perfectly with all of my other old mis-matched china pieces......

....last but not least is this adorable little Raggedy Ann & Andy book tote given to me by my sweet neice Melissa. She knows I love Raggedy Ann & Andy, so she knew I'd love this and I do.

I would say in the past few weeks I've definitely been well blessed with new found treasures!

Chinese New Year blues (Part Six)

Hey all you bloggers,
today was Saturday and well all students take a sigh of relief because 1we can finally sleep late 2We can do whatever we want to because there is no school.I had Tennis today and my coach Alvin from the Chipmunks went to Sydney and there was no lesson and I could not vent my anger out from school days.I got a chance to do it today though. When I came back took a bath, ate my breakfast and then helped my Grandma peel vegetables. My Grandma,Auntie and me were really stressed today because we had to do lots of cooking. But the funny thing was that we all were wearing the same shade of blue as a kind uniform. Here is a preview of the dinner menu:Olive Rice,Bee Hoon,Meatballs and last of all my A la carte. At precisely 7pm all of the executives from OCBC came,I never saw so little people at a party! Anyway after about one hour of eating,I tested the adults to see whether they knew the most lovable disney charecter (After Chip and Dale of course)Pluto.I showed them a picture and 3 people said goofy!2 got it right and this is finally the funniest one,one uncle said Rudolf!Anyway they obviously got bored after all that waiting so then they asked my father to sing and he sang really well but he sang so loudly that I think the people in Uraguay could hear him! Then it was my time to sing.I sang quite okayish I guess but it was'nt my best.I was so bored after they went home but I realized that next week something worse was marching into the house want to find out what it is check my blog on Sunday!
xoxo Simply me

P.S I watched iCarly before I went to sleep here is a funny picture I found of Ms Briggs from iCarly.

The Cowboy Breakfast

So I heard about this "Cowboy Breakfast" from my editor on the Ranger, Tricia. She said it's one huge breakfast buffet where everything is free. It kicks off the Rodeo in San Antonio at 4:30 in the morning! So I decided I'd go shoot it, I'm on that side of town, and it may actually be fun...and it was! Seeing thousands of people lined up to get as much free food as possible was a first for me, and there were many other nice surprises during my 6:00 am assignment (the earliest photo assignment I've had, I believe) An article on mySA.com said the "breakfast items included about 40,000 tortillas, 320 pounds of eggs, 10,000 brats, 10,000 biscuits and 125 gallons of gravy." -- That's a lot of food!

Events like this make me proud to live in America, where it's all about the food!

This year the breakfast was held in the Lowe's parking lot at the Rim

Rangers vs Tigers

I covered my first basketball game of the semester on Wednesday. It was SAC vs our fellow community college St. Philips, and their gym was great for making good basketball photos. This game was just plain fun to watch, and the best part came after a monster dunk by new member to the team. The crowd went absolutely nuts (including myself) and I was just happy to get the shot!
