In high school my husband worked in a coffee shop and used Torani Flavored syrups to flavor the beverages offered there. When my husband found out that I had NEVER tried Torani syrup in my hot chocolate (I am a HUGE hot chocolate lover) he was shocked. During the nine years we have been married he has raved about Torani syrups and how versatile they are-Coffee, Milk, Hot Chocolate, Desserts...you can pretty much use Torani Flavored syrups in anyway you would like. A few weeks ago I was contacted by SheSpeaks to participate in the 'Torani Authentic Coffeehouse Flavor' Program and I literally leaped out of my chair. Since we live in a small town Torani syrups aren't readily available at my fingertips so when I received the chance to try some I jumped at the chance!
A bit about Torani
Since 1925, family-owned Torani has been crafting great tasting flavored syrups that coffeehouses use to make their flavored drinks taste so delicious. With over 120 flavors in regular and sugar free varieties, Torani flavored syrups are perfect for flavored lattes, mochas, coffees, cocoas, Italian sodas, teas, lemonades, cocktails and smoothies. Coffeehouse professionals choose Torani flavors because they are expertly crafted and made with the highest quality ingredients, like natural flavors and pure cane sugar. The sugar free flavors have no calories and are sweetened with Splenda. Now, Torani Flavored Syrups are widely available at retail so you can easily create authentic coffeehouse quality drinks at home.
My Review
I was received two bottles of Torani syrup in Hazelnut and Gingerbread to review thanks to SheSpeaks. My family and I don't drink coffee so I decided to try out the Hazelnut syrup in hot chocolate. I have never used flavored syrups before so I didn't know quite what to expect from the Torani syrup...so I added just a bit to my hot chocolate, topped it with some whipped cream and OH MY GOSH...how have I been living without this? It took my hot chocolate from being mediocre to AMAZING! The syrup doesn't taste artificial or leave a weird aftertaste. A sweet underlying taste of Hazelnut is just what my hot chocolate needed!
I was a bit hesitant to try the Gingerbread syrup from Torani since it is pretty difficult (I would suspect) to get the complex flavors of Gingerbread into a syrup...and have it taste good. I decided to go ahead and add some of the Gingerbread syrup to some warm milk and I was not disappointed. The syrup was perfectly flavored and not overpowering at all-it left my milk lightly flavored with delicious gingerbread. I also decided to try out the Gingerbread syrup in some icing I was making for my Pumpkin Cupcakes...I added about three tablespoons into my icing and I received SO many compliments...everyone wanted to know what my secret ingredient was! I absolutely LOVED trying both syrups from Torani. I can't wait for my family to try some over the Holidays!
