When a self-conscious young woman discovers the boy in drama class is actually the immortal who painted the world into being, she becomes the target of another painter who hates humanity. The Earth Painter is a Young Adult Supernatural Romance set in the small mill town of Chesnee, SC. It revolves around Holly Scruggs, who's family has just moved back to Chesnee after her dad lost his job along with pretty much everything they owned. Her image conscious parents correct her to the point of brokenness until she meets Theo. He is the artist responsible for all the beauty of the land and he thinks Holly is beautiful too. Together they will fight against Fritz, the water painter who hates humans and is hiding a secret under the high school.
As the debut novel from author Melissa Turner Lee- she has created the beginning of The Painter Series, which is exactly the type of book an anthor wants to be writing right now. This is a 'paranormal romance", and scores with creating a page flipping read for those interested in the hot young adult genre (that isn't just for young adults).
My review:
I really enjoyed this e book- one of the things about the paranormal romance genre- is that you aren't exactly sure what's going to happen. There isn't this predictable, run of the mill formula that you can predict from the onset. While reading "The Earth Painter'- I really had no idea where it was going- the author paints, so to speak this interesting story that isn't far-fetched or completely dismissible which is part of the appeal. You're taken to a small town anywhere USA to meet characters that are identifiable and interesting. The main characters Holly and Theo aren't what you'd expect- but yet the setting is something we can all relate to- high school.
You haven't read a story like this before- so forget what you think you know about the 'Twilight' bar that has been set for paranormal romance. This is completely different, and something that you are sure to enjoy. I highly recommend it for the teen in your life, or anyone for that matter!
