April Fool's Day Songs? - Fool For Thought

"Everybody plays the fool, sometime There's no exception to the rule Listen, baby, it may be factual, may be cruel I want to tell ya Everybody plays the fool..." (by J.R. Bailey, Rudy Clark, Ken Williams.) The internet is full of articles on April Fool's Day and its origin. It would be interesting to find out more. Yes, it's the big day to-day and below is a list of 60s and 70s songs with the word fool:

Fools Rush In ~ Elvis Presley A Fool Such As I - Elvis Presley or The Clovers Fool, Fool, Fool - Elvis Presley Fool - Elvis Presley Chain Of Fools ~ Aretha Franklin What A Fool Believes - Doobie Brothers Why Do Fools Fall In Love? ~ Frankie Lymon And The Teenagers What Kind Of Fool Am I? Sammy Davis Jr/Anthony Newley The Fool On The Hill - The Beatles Won't Get Fooled Again ~ The Who Poor Little Fool - Ricky Nelson April Fool's Day - Marty Robbins April Fools - Nina N Fredrick.

Everybody Plays The Fool - The Manhattans Fool For You - The Impressions A Fool In Love - Ike, Tina Turner Fool #1 - Brenda Lee Foolish Little Girl - Shirelles It Takes A Fool To Learn - The Spinners

Everybody's Somebody's Fool - Connie Francis She's A Fool - Lesley Gore I'm A Fool - Dino, Desi, Billy Love's Made A Fool Of You - Bobby Fuller Four

And then there are songs without the 4 letter word but with similar themes: Tears Of A Clown - Smokey Robinson Send In The Clowns - Judy Collins or Barbra Striesand Cathy's Clown - Everly Brothers I'm Not Your Steppin' Stone - The Monkees Cool Jerk - The Capitols In certain songs the themes of sadness, anger, depression, defiance, distraction and hopelessness reveal themselves in the lyrics. But then could these feelings be more an indication of realisation before wisdom strikes a chord?

"I've gotta stand tall,/You know a man can't crawl,/But when he knows you tell lies,/And he hears 'em passin' by,/He's not a man at all. (by: Don & Phil Everly)"

Not much of an April Fool's song posting? Make it funny then. If you remember other songs with a similar theme, please contribute. "Let us be thankful for the fools. But for them the rest of us could not succeed." - Mark Twain. "Looking foolish does the spirit good." - John Updike. Image: Google. Original article: Andy Lim Information: Many websites abound.

The Week off Leftovers Blog

A few people in my writing class seem so self absorbed. They remind me a little of Jo from Little Women. (I‘ve been watching the anime adaptation.) You know early Jo before she cuts her hair.
PS: bring something to write with. It is a writing class after all.

Here is also something that funny that I forgot about:

It was funny when my sales teacher asked who knows about Kirby? This immediately popped into my mind. Maximum pink! She was talking about the vacuum company. Too bad we weren’t talking about the video game character.

Dusty Video Box Presents: The Ultimate Sukeban Gang Part Two

We continue with our installments of the ultimate gang of Japanese delinquent girls, lead by the Boss With The Cross, Noriko(played by Miki Sugimoto). I forgot to mention in the last post that Saki Asamiya's, the Sukeban Deka(or Deliquent Schoogirl Detective) links to the government via the Sukeban Deka program, would give the group some immunity from your typical Japanese authority figure. Thus, if they run into another girl gang trying to challenge them on their home turf, for example, they wouldn't have to worry about running from the cops. The cops would basically look the other way with this gang involved, and would even help them; after all, with this gang wiping out the competition, crime would become extinct soon enough!

So, let's continue in building this street-fighting force:

My fourth pick would be: Kyoko Nakamura, Marbles Okyo

Played By: Haruko Sagara

Application Status: My exposure to Marbles Okyo is even more limited than Saki Asamiya's. She is prominant in the 1987 Sukebandeka feature film, which essentially continues from the television series of the same name. Here, when introduced(or reintroduced initially in native Japan), she has become bored with her civilian life, and very eager to return to fighting criminals with Saki. She later assists in the mission to rescue two delinquent students from "Hell Castle", a horrific reform school on an island, where the students are being brainwashed to become sword-wielding soldiers.

Skills: They don't call her "Marbles" for her hairbob. Just as Saki is deadly with her yo-yo, Kyoko is a crack shot with marbles. That's right, marbles. In the film, she demonstrates her skill in the third act, laying out machine-gun-totin' soldiers with a flick of her fingers, and from miles away. Thanks to jaytiki on Youtube, here is a scene demonstrating how dangerous she is:

Paraphernalia: Just give her a bag of marbles. She'll go all Green Arrow and lay out buckets of goons for ya.

My fifth pick would be: Kyoko Kubo, Sappho of The Street

Played By: Seiko Saburi

Application Status: According to the ol' trusty Wikipedia, Sappho was an ancient Greek poetress, whose name and place of birth(Lesbos) has become synonymous with romantic love towards another woman. Remember in the early 1990s, when every comic company was putting together superteams like Lego blocks? Like, you had the powerhouse, or the big muscle guy, the speedster, the stoic leader, and the eye candy, the sexy female member? Well, in this line-up, Kyoko is the Temptress. Her skills are not for the battlefield, but for manipulation.

In Terrifying Girls' High School: Lynch Law Classroom, Kyoko's skills shine best when she ambushes one of the main members of the school's peer disciplinary council in the bathroom, groping her erotically in the stall. For the wee ones tuning in, I'm not going to go into details, but let's just say after a few well-placed kisses, "Sappho" got what she wanted from the girl. Later, said girl is punished viciously...the punishment involved a light bulb and push-ups, and I won't go any further.

Skills: She's not call Sappho of the Street for nothin'. Her sexual charms and skill are potent enough to make one of the main disciplinary committee members temporarily turn against her crew to help her.

Paraphenalia: Her smile.

My sixth pick is: GoGo Yubari

Played By: Chiaki Kuriyama

Application Status: Wolverine. Sentry. Batman. Some comic superteams have those members that are so frightening, so crazy, that their fellow members go out of their way NOT to make eye contact with them. In this gang, Gogo Yubari, from Quentin Tarentino's Kill Bill saga, would fill that position. Gogo is nuts...as demonstrated in Kill Bill Volume One, she has no qualms with killing even innocent people, like the harmless drunk man in the bar that she slices open with a katana. She's fearless as well, challenging the Bride(Uma Thurman) to a battle, despite the fact that the blonde warrior had demonstrated her sword skill.

Skills: Gogo seems to demonstrate some martial art skills in her battle with the Bride, as well as skill with the meteor hammer and the katana. Her most dangerous skill, however, is her penchant for ultraviolence and her blood-thirstiness.

Paraphanelia: To be honest, while she wields the meteor hammer in the movie, I would rather see her use the katana. I can picture her going into a beserker rage against the gang's enemies, and Noriko having to calm her down...

Well, two installments down, and maybe one or two to go...I don't know, I'm having fun. Feel free to comment, exploitation hounds!

March 2010 favourites

Hello! How was March for you? I loved March. It was my birthday on the 17th and I celebrated in London with Mr Lollipop - just incase I hadn't mentioned it yet haha. I didn't like the getting older part though :( Anyhoo, my March favourites mostly consists of lip products, but I could have featured a lot more as I've really enjoyed buying new colours and finding new combinations this month. I've tried to narrow it down to my absolute favourites though!

YSL Rouge Pur Lipstick - 148 Tea Rose
I am so in love with YSL lip products. If I win the lottery, I'm going to buy the entire range. They're just so stunning, and though I love my Rouge Volupte's dearly, I have been partial to this Rouge Pur since I bought it. It's a perfect, everyday peachy-nude colour, and it is really easy to apply so it's fab to just throw place inside your bag tenderly for touch-up's on the go. It smells and tastes delicious too, kind of a watermelony taste that is a trademark of YSL lipsticks.

MAC Lipstick - Viva Glam Gaga
I know, you've all seen it a billion times splashed across the blogs, but I adore it. It's particularly fab for spring as it's such a bright, playful pink. It cheers me up when I wear this. How can you be grumpy when you've got bright pink, bubblegum lips? The formula of this just feels so much silkier than my other lustres, it just feels beautiful. I'm a pale-skinned brightlipstickophobic, and if I can carry this off, anyone can!

Bourjois Effet 3D Lipgloss - 33 Brun Poetic
This is a really pretty, not-too-shimmery, nude coloured lipgloss. Though it's not opaque enough to give me a true full-on nude lip when I wear it alone, it certainly is pigmented enough to tone down my natural lip colour and give me a slight nude lip. How many times can I say nude? I love it teamed with NYX Round Lipstick in Summer Love. It smells and tastes of sherbert too, something I didn't realise when I bought it as I had a cold.

MAC Cream Colour Base - Pearl
This could easily have been thrown into my 'Overhyped Products' pile when I first got it, but I can't live without it now. I've changed elements of my skincare and foundation routines, so whereas it used to cling to dry patches or cake up my foundation before, it doesn't do it anymore and it highlights my skin perfectly. I'm not sure whether it'd be too pale and frosty for dark-skinned ladies, but it's perfect on my NC15-20 skin.

MAC Pigment - Chartreuse
I've really been embracing pastels for Spring, and this is my eyeshadow of choice. It requires very little work, which is great for the mornings. I just pat it all over my lid (not going beyond the crease) with something like a synthetic Benefit Talent brush, and blend the edges with a MAC 224, and that's it. The reason I love this colour so much is that it is definitely a pretty pastel green, but it has a gold tone to it. Throughout the day I find that it sort of changes into a really pretty goldy-green. A vivid green eyeliner on the waterline and this on my lid has been a staple look for me over the past few days, and I love it because it bring colour to my look without being too in-your-face. I may do a FOTD with this soon, just so you can see how pretty it is.

L'Oreal Perfect Clean Cleanser & Scrubby
I'm not go into too much detail about this product as I have a review coming up shortly, but this little scrubby pad thing is absolutely amazing. You know how you can get those toothbrushes that have a rubber, scrubby tongue cleaner on the back of the head? Well this pad is kind of made out of that, but it doesn't feel harsh on my skin at all. I have to admit, I'm not 100% sure I'd love this product as much if it didn't have the pad with it.

Lush Shower Gel - Rub Rub Rub
This is a really refreshing, citrussy shower gel, and I've been loving it in the mornings to really wake me up. It's not a great exfoliator, but a squeeze of this on a shower puff leaves me feeling and smelling fresh all day. Perfect for Spring, and especially so now that I'm bored of Snow Fairy!

What have you loved using during March?

xoxo

Coin question for March 2010

Every month, there is over a dozen question asked by my reader about coin, banknote, collection, item price and accecories that related to numismatic world. I will be sharing them starting this month. Do mind though, I am not an expert. I just like to share what I know and what I read about this hobbies. If you think that my answer is wrong, feel free to comment in here. Just make sure you don't spam me with unrelated link. I am editing some of this question to make sure it is relevent to this blog. Keep on giving me question to lunaticg@gmail.com. I will try to answered them.

Question: How can I get buyer for this coin? How to differentiate between nickle & bronze coin?

Azizan:
Dear Lunaticg,
My name is Mr.Azizan. Here i just want to ask you some questions. Actually now 1 have bronze "1 SEN 1976" coins. Based on your informations (Malaysia rare coin price table) in your blog, there's mentioned that only 100 pcs known exist...and the price is RM650-UNC & RM900-BU. Here is my questions..
1) How can i get the buyer for this coin?
2) What is the meaning of UNC & BU?

Other questions:-
1) For "1 SEN 1979 Nickle", based on your informations (Malaysia rare coin price table) in your blog, there's mentioned that only 2 pcs known exist and the price is RM2500-UNC & RM3100-BU. So if i have 1 piece, how & what is the methods to differentiate between nickle type & bronze type?
Me:
Hi azizan.
I think if you search my blog you will find the answer you're seeking for, its already there. Just go to Malaysia Ringgit Label.

If you want to sell the item fast, you can always find coin dealer near your place but please expect 50% decrease on its market value. The best way is to sell them online yourself. You can try mudah.my or lelong (if you're in Malaysia) or you can try eBay. Just make sure you give detail information and clear picture of your actual item.

UNC stand for Uncirculated. BU is Brilliant Uncirculated. Just check my blog under handling tips label.

The color of the coin already a big difference between that two.

Question: 10th anniversary coin for the coronation of His Highness Sultan Hassanal Bokiah worth?

Julia:
Hi there, I saw your blog, and in it you mentioned that you welcome coin questions.
I'm a 29-year-old American who has a few questions about a 1978 Brunei commemorative coin. I need to sell it in the next 5 days and was wondering what I could expect to get for it. I was also wondering its value. I understand that by selling it quickly I'm going to take a loss in proceeds. Do you have any recommendations for the method in which I go about doing so?

Coin description:
10th anniversary coin for the coronation of His Highness Sultan Hassanal Bokiah (1968 1978) $1,000 mint condition, encased in hard plastic shell encased coin is in a box that is in very good condition, looks to have been made in the 70's.

Certificate of Authenticity is included. Certificate is in good condition, slightly aged but with no wrinkles, stains, or tears. It names this coin as being number 805 out of the 1000 minted. It lists the composition as being 916.7 Gold and 83.3 Copper (I'm not quite sure what those numbers mean). It lists the diameter as being 40 mm. Weight: 50 g, plus or minus 0.27 grams. Date of issue: 1 August 1978

I was only able to find one example of this coin being sold in the past online, and wanted to get a second opinion as to its value to confirm my assumption. Hopefully, if you do reply and are able to help with any of this information, you won't tell me you found one last week in a crackerjack box.

I'm attaching 2 poor pictures of the coin. They're of poor quality because I don't have a digital camera right now, only my phone, and snapped these on the spur of the moment, halfway through this e-mail. I apologize ahead of time for the blurriness of the snapshots, but they'll atleast give you an idea of what the coin looks like. Rest assured I'm a real person and my e-mail is genuine; I'm not sending you some sort of weird virus in the attachments, I promise.
I appreciate any time you spent reading this.
Me:
Hi Julia.
You're the first one asking me with so much detail about your coin. Look like you already make a research about it. That is a proof 1000 dollars 10th anniversary of Sultan's coronation. The coin price is USD1700. Nice collection you have there.

eBay is the best if you're looking for a high price. If you want to sell them fast, you can asked coin dealer near your place. Just make sure you asked around for a good price before you decided to sell them but expect a 50% decrease on the price. You can also try asking any gold shop if they want to buy this item. The coin gold price almost the same as its current value.

Wish that will give you any help and good luck on selling your coin. Just remember to asked around for a good price before you decide to sell.
Julia:
Hello again Ahmad,
I just thought you'd like to know that I managed to speed-sell the Brunei coin for 1300 USD, the one you blue-booked at 1700 USD. This was more than I had hoped to get for a speed-sale (my highest realistic estimate was at 1150) , thanks to you and the wonderful current market value of gold. I took a gamble by avoiding a place that wanted to deface the coin to test it. Instead I went out of my way and opted to sell it to a nice local coin shop (with people who could also appreciate and respect the coin). Another coin shop tried to rip me off before I settled with this one. It certainly pays to do the research! Thanks again for all of your help.

Question: How much Iraq Dinar worth?

Rusty:
I would like to know how much these items are worth.
saddams 25 Dinar note (one dinar note, five dinar note and ten riyals note), i brought these back with me after the war in Iraq...thank you so much for your help.
Me:
Hi Rusty.
I cannot see any picture but if the Iraq dinar is a new one (1990), Most probably it won't worth a thing since Iraq dinar cannot be traded as currency. For banknote collector, only the old Iraq Dinar have value but it don't worth much. 3 US Dollar for 10 dinars-uncirculated for 1986 notes.
Wish That can help you.

Clearance Mickey Clubhouse Treat Bags $2.50

8 Treat Bags in a pack.

I want to be dependable, I want to be courageous and good

I get the day off tomorrow which is a good thing. I can catch up on my writing and my reading. I can also watch my morning drama at 11:30 AM.

It was really gloomy which is good weather for Garbage songs; the real moody ones. What am I talking about? I like to listen to Garbage in any weather.

I'm going to work on being a good person. You know more open and stuff. Not such a snob or curmudgeon.

My writing class reminds me of that class Jeff took in Community in the episode "Introduction to Film". Don't worry I won't be wearing a funny outfit to class. Although sometimes I do like to wear my Blair Waldorf like hairbands.

The teacher said she is talking 2 personal days next week. I don't have to go to class. Oh goody! But we do have to submit some stuff online, but that doesn't really bother me. I can write to Garbage music.

Who is Thomas de la Rue?

At the back of some of your Malaysia ringgit, you can find "Thomas De La Rue". Who is Thomas de la Rue? Thomas de La Rue on your banknote is a printer company, De La Rue plc; a British security printing, paper making and cash handling systems company headquartered in Basingstoke, Hampshire. It also has a factory on the Team Valley Trading Estate, Gateshead. The Company was founded by Thomas de la Rue who moved to London in 1821 and set up in business as a stationer and printer. In 1831 his business secured a Royal Warrant to produce playing cards, in 1855 it started printing postage stamps and in 1860 it began printing banknotes. In 1896, the family partnership was converted to a private company.

By 1837 his wife, both his sons and his eldest daughter were involved in the business. Beauty And The Beast

I’ve said it a million times. I’ve written about it here, bent customer’s ears and frankly bored the shit out of the people that spend any real amount of time with me with my almost compulsive need to point it out over and over again. I site it when I make my arguments about blind tastings, about any tastings really and have seen with my very own eyes people change their mind about something they thought they knew because of it. Wine is almost never just about what is in the bottle, it’s never that simple and for me that is one of the most compelling, interesting and sexy parts about it. What you are eating, your mood, the people you’re with….each of those things can add another layer of, seasoning if you will. More complexity, more intensity more “flavoring” of what is in the glass by what is on the plate or who is around the table. Sexy as hell to me but every once in awhile that element of trying to pair a wine to a situation….well it can backfire.

I recently had a long awaited moment, a profoundly important meeting an intricate blending of complex personalities that I felt warranted an equally complex and important bottle of wine. I even picked a restaurant kind of known for its simple, (read bland but fine) food…like an old school prime rib joint, one of those places that still serves shrimp cocktails and texturally unsound side dishes. I chose it because I knew there would be nothing on the menu that would interfere or fight to steal the attention away from the wine or the conversation, a place where the people and the wine would be in the spotlight. So yeah….backfire.

You ever one of those moments in your life where you can hear and feel yourself saying and doing things that are so unlike you, so hurtful and cruel that even while the hum from saying them is still vibrating in your chest that you simply cannot believe what is happening? Like some tweaked out, demonic brain cells have taken over and everything that passes through your ears gets so twisted by the time it reaches the little bastard that has taken over your brain that is has been turned into something completely different...something that causes the demon cells to flip that switch from civil to evil? Well it has happened to me maybe three times in my life; this long awaited night was one of them.

I brought one of my absolute favorite wines, a 1993 Hubert de Montille Pommard Rugiens a wine full of grace and regality….a wine so lovely and pure, a wine that was everything that I was NOT that evening and a wine whose delicate nature was obliterated, destroyed and eventually lost beneath the bile and ugliness of the situation. I was horrified by my behavior, my momentary loss of my sanity and civility…still am actually and to this day I cannot tell you what inspired or triggered my lunacy, not sure it matters really…it happened and there is nothing I can do to change that.

I have since been forgiven for being a nutbag that evening, matter of fact it seems that I was the one most hurt and the most devastated by the way that night unfolded, the way I unfolded and I am doing my best to just chalk it up to a, “Well everyone loses it once in awhile” thing. I’m working on it but little flashes of my snarling, snapping and frankly being a wicked bitch still flash on me along with pictures of my beloved wine being basically chugged down, used for its numbing abilities….trying to act as anti venom to the fierce flick of my tongue. We might as well have been drinking Rodney Strong Cabernet for all the attention we were paying….ugh.

My wine sacrificed to a situation…
Like I have said a million times, wine is about more than what is in the bottle and even a remarkably beautiful wine, a high scoring wine, a much coveted bottle of wine cannot compete, make or save every situation. Poor little Pommard….

Heather And Cliff Together! Congratulations!

Bootlegs are not legitimate commercial releases and are illegal but some collectors want them. It is true that all illegal items - not just records - are hard to advertise, buy or sell. So most bootlegs have little value.

They come in several categories though. Some bootleg LPs often feature tracks that have not been commercially released because the recordings are stolen ones. Some are illegal recordings of live concerts.

EPs include re-releases of rare or valuable 45s. Some bootleg 45s are exact copies of rare records with the original label graphics and numbers - these are known in the industry as counterfeits. In Singapore 60s, a record does not need to be rare. As long as it sells well, a bootleg copy is available.

During blogger's search for vinyls, he comes across many bootleg copies. Some of them are so common that they are worthless today, but some of these fakes are being sold in the market for a higher price. At the end of the day it depends on how much a buyer is willing to pay and how badly the seller is willing to part with the bootleg for the amount involved.

The above vinyl, from a flea market, costs S$2.00 but blogger was offered quite a staggering amount for it by a collector. It has a unique cover with our Singapore sweetheart Heather's most popular song, Love Is Blue.

But what makes it special is Cliff Richard's pasted photograph below with the song Congratulations. Together with Green Tambourine Heather (who was with The Diamonds Four), sings Kiss Me Goodbye. And the label is Hi Fi Record without a serial number. They could've have been more imaginative.

Anyone interested in bootleg? Do you have some at home?

Hot Off the Wok - Stir-fried Kai Lan with Shrimp

Kai lan (also known as Chinese broccoli or Chinese kale) is a leafy vegetable frequently used in Chinese cuisine, mostly as a stir-fried dish. It consists of large green leaves, thick stems and flowering buds similar to those found in broccoli. It is a very traditional Chinese ingredient (the name itself says it all) and is best cooked as a stir-fry dish or steamed (or boiled). When steamed, it is served with an oyster sauce and sesame oil concoction.

As for this stir-fry dish, here are the ingredients that you'll need:

1 lb kai lan (cut off about an inch or two off the bottom stem)
1/2 lb shrimps (shelled)
1/2 lb button mushrooms (quartered)
2 carrots (sliced)
1 teaspoon of minced fresh ginger
1/2 an onion (julienned)
3 cloves of garlic
1 teaspoon oyster sauce
Salt and ground black pepper to taste

Heat up some oil in your wok. Start by sautéing the onions and carrots until soft. Add the shrimp and cook until it turns orange-red. Then add the garlic and ginger and cook for another minute. Finally add the kai lan, mushrooms and oyster sauce. Mix up the ingredients in the wok well and add about half a cup of water and cover the wok. When the kai lan is tender, the dish is ready. Plate it and serve. Enjoy!

Homeward Bound

Howdy y'all!! I'm wrapping up my work trip in Louisiana and can I just tell you - I'm READY to be home! I love the deep South and traveling here but I'm in such a small town that I have experienced being practically off the grid for a week and a half now. No phone service and spotty internet!! Oh how I've missed you, my dear internets!!

And I'm sick of living out of this sloppy suitcase.

I have a question for you - when you travel do you usually unpack your suitcase into the closet and dresser? Or do you just work right out of your suitcase??

I have been working insane hours and I had a couple long and stressful days (like 12 hour days without even a lunch break!!). So guess what my dear hubby sent me? Flowers to my hotel room!! Aren't they cute?? I really wish I could take them home with me.

I've been working so much that I haven't been able to pig out on good southern food like I wanted. I HAVE had some good ole sweet tea that rivals my moms!! Someone recommended that I try this hole in the wall Mexican restaurant and I had the BEST quesadilla I've ever had.

And you should know that I'm a card carrying quesadilla connoisseur.

Say that four times fast.

I've also read two full books while I've been here (that's what happens when you don't have access to the outside world!! ha!)

Both of these were good but I would definitely recommend The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie. It's like a fabulous combination of Harry Potter and Nancy Drew.

Happy Tuesday!!

This Blog's so Dull, Come on Rip it to Shreds

I feel a bit off today. Maybe I didn't sleep well or something. I was falling asleep writing my Wrestlemaina blog. One of my neopets got sick. My ixi seems to get sick a lot more than my other pets.

While I was waiting for the bus I saw a cute little Jack Russel looking dog. It kind of looked like Veela. (That's Shirley's dog)

The funny thing was that I was rocking out to Blondie and walking to class. I didn't even notice that my teacher was right behind me. I think I'm losing it. Maybe that's why was "a little off" I usually listen to No Doubt or Garbage.

Not having a spring break doesn't bother me. I like starting late it means I don't have to go to school on Valentines Day. When it falls on a weekday. I use to get denied one when I went to year round school in grades 3 and 4. A lot of people who don't get one just make their own.

For some reason I can't seem to finish 3 of my stories. It sucks because they are due soon. *gasp*. I didn't realize I had an assignment due for class. Maybe I'll use that Golden Apple Shirley meeting story for class. I don't know. I haven't decided yet.

Remember one important thing don't burn bridges and always network.

Family Chalkboard

CREATE a large family chalkboard from a picture frame with pockets!

Items needed:
chalkboard vinyl found HERE .
Large picture frame without glass, any size works!
Scissors and packaging tape to seal the back of the frame.
One 10 year old Boy who loves to build!
chalk and eraser(damp cloth works best).
Fabric and interfacing for pockets
Constructing the POCKETS:
You will need fabric and interfacing to make pockets to store chalk and eraser. (Pockets measure 8" X length of frame).

For pockets- make two long tubes using two fabrics right sides together with interfacing on back of fabrics. Sew along both horizontal edges. Leave both ends open for turning. Place fabrics together, sew one edge for bottom of pockets.

I divided the vertical fabric into five pockets. I glued the pockets to the vinyl with a high temperature glue gun. I prefer vertical stripes, it makes a easy guide for dividing the pockets.

Constructing Frame:
A picture or cardboard picture from frame that works well with contact paper
Cover your board with chalkboard contact paper or chalkboard vinyl.
If you are using vinyl, use packaging tape to secure vinyl firmly into place.
Table knife for moving staples up and down.

I used a very large frame with a cardboard picture that was not being used, any second hand stores would be a great place to find a suitable frame! We took the glass out and placed it on top of a desk, which will be used to make a desk top cover with old photos under the glass.

A great project to make with your kids!

Enjoy!
