i used to think i was super traditional (not with the real trees but the dark evergreen trees)
but these trees have got me rethinking everything!

ry and i are looking forward to donating our couch that is too long for our house to charity and moving my craft room downstairs to make room for baby! i seriously cant wait to show you the nursery plans :) but a lot of that depends on the gender of baby so we will wait and see.

modern storybook posters

i am definitely not a minimalist but after seeing these posters on a cup of jo yesterday i wanted to decorate minimalist in my nursery (most likely will not happen- i like frilly things way too much)
aren't they adorable?
i would still like to incorporate one into my decor  somehow
more here

which story for a boy and which for a girl?
maybe the three little pigs for a boy
and the princess and the pea for a girl?

oh too much fun!

bath and body works candles for fall and winter

in my opinon, Slatkin & CO. candles sold at bath and body works are the best! the 3-wick ones especially- they are so strong and the scents they come out with are fantastic.
perhaps my most favorite candle of them all!
it just smells of fall and if it was seasonally appropriate i would burn this all year round. in fact, maybe i will!

months i like to burn it: september, october, november, early december
bbw description: Autumnal notes of golden nectar, juicy mandarin and red delicious apple are paired with toasted cinnamon stick, mulled cider spices and freshly harvested red berries.

the salesman recommended it to me. he loved it because it is unique, more on the masculine side and just smells like going on a hike. i agree! it is a great fall fragrance that is a nice departure from the more generic (but still lovely) pumpkin, cinnamon, vanilla and apple-style mixes.

months i am planning on burning it: october, november, early december
bbw description: A medley of fresh apricot, juicy pear and fig blended with fresh cut Birchwood and creamy sandalwood.

okay- doesn't it just sound wonderful? marshmallow fireside. yum. it smells pretty divine and now im wishing that i stocked up with more. typically i am not a fan of sweet fragrances, but this scent is not too sweet. the fireside part counters the sweetness just right.

months im planning on burning it: october, november, december
bbw description: Toasted marshmallows and sweet vanilla cream wrapped in the aroma of rich smoldering woods.

this is our first Christmas in a house! which means our first Christmas tree! we have a fake one that we are super excited to put up but nothing beats the smell of a real Christmas tree. so as a pretty great substitute this fresh balsam candle will be burned throughout the holiday season. it smells fantastic! so-piney!

months im planning on burning it: december
bbw description: Crisp, clean balsam fir blends delightfully with fresh eucalyptus and sweet pine and layered with notes of bright apple, cedarwood and musk.

the winter candle selections have not come yet, but i can't wait! like i mentioned earlier, i typically don't like sweet sweet scents, but the mint chocolate and hot chocolate candles were tempting me greatly. ry was proud i did not give in- he is not a fan of sugar!

shopping tip: wait for the 2 for $20 candle sale. they happen every so often- sign up for their emails so you get the notification in your inbox!

Beckon some Cash!

I went to the mall to buy some shirts. I was upset that I was rushed. But I did get to go to the Japanese store.

I finally bought a Maneki Neko. I asked the worker about every single one, and what they meant. The guide on the display was on Japanese. I don't read Japanese
that well. Here is what I wrote in my phone for notes, so I would know which one to buy. "Right paw gold or calico holding coin". The are so many different kinds they sort of remind me of Catholic saint statues. Black is good luck in general. Which is the opposite view of black cats in western culture. Green is for exams. I accidentally picked up the gold one which is for job promotion. The blue one is for good health. I wanted the one that beckons cash. I have wanted to get one of these for a while. Perhaps I'll buy more.

Does anybody know what the writing on the cat says?

Engrish Apron

I went shopping at the dollar store yesterday and I found some funny times Engrish!

Let's beging the pictures!

I think is supposed to say "celebrity".

I have no idea why this description is on that. I'm pretty sure the item is an apron.

I think I have to stop taking pictures in the store. I think the store is onto me. :( Maybe I'll take photos in silent mode.

Look Out Here Comes Tomorrow

That's what I get for coincidentally checking my email at 3AM. The email was sent at about 10:30PM the day before.

Coincidentally before my interview I was watching The Monkees episode "Monkee Versus Machine". I love that episode! It's one of my favorites. My favorite part is in the beginning when they are reading the want ads most of the jobs they read about have strange requirements.

Maybe it's a good thing I didn't get to work at that other sandwich place.

I took my dad's stupid advice and brought 3 resumes. The other 2 I didn't hand out got ruined. I got asked about the restaurant and what I like there. I said Spring Rolls. The guy almost kept my only food card copy. I got hired. I think...? :/ The guy told me about orientation. I'll worry about my long nails until I know I got the job.

I just hope nobody reads my review of boba on here. X-X

I picked up more of that candy that tastes like sodalicious. The hi chew is over priced at the mall. It's $1 just for the roll. I was going to buy a Maneki Neko, but I forgot which raised paw means wealth. (it's the right paw)

If I do get hired I'll probably be one of those snobby people who brags about where they work and how good they are at their job and the food they make.

I didn't notice that my purse was totally coordinated with the shirt I was wearing.

My dad told me something strange he thinks I can handle making sandwiches because it's easy. Usually after a job interview he tells me about how I can't handle the job or something.

But not for Free

I forgot to get a free slurpee today. :(

They were DC nails and they had a picture of Harley on the box, but there were no nails with her on them. There was some girl trying to sell me a pack of fake nails at the Hot Topic store. They were really ugly. I think I could decorate fake nails better than that.

I found a Japanese store at the mall. I think it use to be a brick and mortar store in the area and then moved to the mall. I think I passed another one when I was looking for that place in Atlantic Square. I bought some Lucky Stick there. They are the Meiji version of Pocky. Meiji also makes yan yan, but I tried it and I thought it was gross. (chocolate flavor)

There use to be a store in the mall that sold Asian housewares and stationary that was in the mall about 10 years ago. They use to sell Chibimaruko Chan stuff there.

To that guy who vandalized good for him! He's doing something with his life. Letterman doesn't deserve to have a show. You have no idea what you are talking about on your show. JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP! I HATE YOU! YOU HAS BEEN!

Nerding Out Some More!

I bought a Sailor Moon scout guide book with some left over money I had. I remember reading the book in a mall about 10 years ago. I thought it was funny that Sailor Moon and I have the same blood type; O. After I received it my dad wanted to "inspect" the book. He did this before when I bought school books online. He got mad because I paid $8 for a beat up book. It was the only one in my price range. It’s not too beat up. For that price to me it was a deal. Those books are rare anyway and really over priced. I already showed it to him once why does he need to "inspect" it again?

I already nerded out for the Mercury and Venus guides.

By/Buy a Hammer

I bought a quad/graph paper composition book. I don't know why I just thought it was interesting. I'll use it for journal. Maybe I can write about how much I like baby lotion in it. I like that the lotion is referred to as "JBL" LOL! ;P

There was a girl at the store who was very excited to get this plush doll. At first I couldn't see who the doll was. Then I saw it was Amy Rose. I went to see where those dolls were ironically the dolls are near toy squeaky hammers. I'm not sure if this was purposely done or just a funny coincidence. The only other Sonic character I saw was Cream. The dolls are about a foot tall and are $4.99. Is that a good deal? :/

I also bought my first piece of Disney Princess merchandise with Tiana on it. Ariel was also on it. I make it a policy to not buy Disney Princess merchandise unless Ariel is on it.

Hello, Double Chocolate!

I picked up more panda cookies they are chocolate chocolate Hello Panda cookies. I haven't tried them yet. When I do. I'll write a review on them. There were other flavors at the store like vanilla cookies with vanilla filling and vanilla cookies with strawberry flavoring. I'm not really big on strawberry flavoring. I didn't like the Koala's March strawberry ones. I wish there would have been "reverse" cookies. Chocolate cookie with vanilla filling.

one of the best things about summer

see's candies brings back the root beer lollipop flavor!
i wish they kept the name sassafras
it sounds so much more fun

every summer i look forward to see's bringing it back
for Christmas they do cinnamon
the cinnamon is good
but the sassafras is better in my opinion

my mom is addicted to the chocolate pops
no surprise that she passed the addiction down to me
but i am partial to the sassafras flavor

go and try one
they are only 70 cents a pop

last time i visited the mall i bought a little bouquet of pops
to tempt my mom when she comes for a visit at the end of this month
unfortunately they are tempting me more right now

Satan's Candy

I don't know why I can't resist going to the candy store at the mall. I always check the gummis for freshness. I stupidly bought some heavy candy that weighed down the bag, and made it cost more. There were some cherry cola gummis. They made me think of that old fruit snack sodalicious.I really miss the ones that were lemon lime flavored. I wish there was a gummi similar to that. I miss sodalicious snacks. Those won't be coming back any time soon. Those are so sinful I'd have to make a deal with Satan himself to bring those back. I'd be better off eating a turkey and spinach pita sandwich.

I went to the mall looking for some stuff. I need to get a new belt. When I went to the store I usually buy belts at most of the belts were really wide. I hate that wide belt trend! I don't want something looks like a waist cincher.

Watched some MeTV. KDOC is the local affiliate. About 2 years ago they were going to be the This TV affiliate, but eventually it became a subchannel of KTLA.

Newbies

Wow, is it Wednesday already? It seems like only yesterday I was skipping out of work at 6pm filled with excitement for the weekend ahead, and now we're at the middle of the week? Crazy. I've been feeling a bit poorly this week, hence the peace on the blogfront, but I'm sat here in my jimjams waiting for The Apprentice to start and thought it was the perfect opportunity to put pen to paper (or fingers to keys).

As I've already mentioned, Saturday was a date day for my honey and I, and we spent the day in Cardiff - shopping, eating, shopping some more, eating some more... you get the idea. I had a blast!
We started the day relatively early with a spot of shopping. We were in Cardiff at 10am at the latest, and Primark was already heaving. Is there any time to shop there without having to elbow people out of your way? Urgh. Mr Lollipop hates that shop, but I was in search of a gold chunky ring. In typical Laura fashion, I bought everything but a gold chunky ring! We also did the obligatory rounds of MAC, Debenhams and Boots, and I think I did pretty well as I hardly bought a thing. I could have spent a fortune in the new Americandy shop though! We were literally like children in a candy shop, and everywhere we looked had something new and exciting, either from our childhood or America. I refused to pay £8.00 for a box of Lucky Charms, but no doubt we'll be making a trip back there soon!
All in all I had a fabulous day, but I ate waaaaaay too much. The Krispy Kremes (note, plural), Shakeaway milkshakes, Gourmet Burger Kitchen burger, chips and garlic mayo (nom nom nom)... All tasted divine, but I kinda had a food-hangover on Sunday and I felt rotten. I've been feeling crap about my eating habits lately anyway, so Saturday was the nail in the coffin if you like. I vowed to be back on 'it' (my healthy eating bandwagon) on Monday morning and I'm pleased to say I've been great this week. Feeling so rubbish has really awakened my determination again. Anyway, I am rambling! Onto the newbies:

Gotta Dash! lipstick, £13.50, MAC.
New lipstick always cheers me up and I have been wanting to test the new Sheen Supreme ones since their release. I have been looking at swatches online for a while and thought I'd come home with Behave Yourself (a pretty Barbie pink) or Supremely Confident (a beloved nude), but as soon as I swatched this I knew I'd be taking it home. It's a gorgeous pastel peach (not quite coral but is very coral-toned) and feels really smooth and silky when I'm wearing it. Plus it is opaque so you only need to swipe it once, and it has a darling shine to it. An instant favourite, both colour-wise and formula-wise!

Daisy headband and daisy bobble, both £1 each, Primark.
I have a bit of a growing obsession for daisies, so when I spotted this cute headband I had to get it. We were in a petrol station a few weeks ago and the girl pulling up next to us had her hair in a ponytail, adorned with a big daisy. I have been wanting one since so you can imagine my delight when I saw it sitting on the shelves. I know that both of these are going to become Summer staples as I prefer wearing my hair up in the hotter weather, so they are going to add a pretty finish to an otherwise simple 'do.

Gold earring set, £1.50, Primark.
I don't have many solid gold earrings (solid as in without any coloured stones), so whenever I wear gold jewellery I have to go earringless. Well, not anymore! 6 pairs of cute gold earrings for £1.50?! Bargain! I'd pay £1.50 for the heart dangly ones alone - they are super cute.

Turquoise stone silver ring, £2.50, Primark.
I love wearing turquoise/teal/blue jewellery, so the turquoise stone combined with the detail of the silver instantly put a smile on my face. I love chunky rings, but this isn't so chunky that it is in knuckleduster territory - it's just a big, fancy ring. Love it!

Model's Own nail polish, Pastel Pink / Blooboo / Lemon Meringue, £5.00 each (currently 3 for 2 in Boots).
I can't get enough of pastel nail polishes at the moment. I initially wanted Barry M's Peach Melba, but the Barry M stand in Cardiff is ridiculously slow at getting new stock, though they did have the new colours of the nail effects crackle polish. I digress... The pastel colours are very pretty. I have been after a powder blue for a while and this one fits the bill perfectly. In the bottle it looks like it has a purple-blue sheen, but this doesn't translate onto the nails. I've also wanted to embark on the yellow nails trend, but Chanel's Mimosa is a bit too intense for me. Lemon Meringue is so wearable though, so I'd really recommend this one if you want to try the less-intense version of the trend too. Pastel Pink is exactly that, and though I have lots, this one is my favourite. Very opaque and looks fab. Can't wait to go and pick up more!

Natural Collection Nail Polish, White, £1.89.
I wanted a cheap white nail polish and this was the cheapest they had in store. I only wanted one to use as a base under my sheerer colours or to attempt a bit of polka-dotting, and I have to admit I am really impressed. It applies really evenly and dries quickly. The only downside is the brush is a bit thick for clumsy me, but I'll gladly do with that for £1.89!

And something random, but I love these lidded cups that we bought in Lakeland. I think they were about £4 each and on offer 3 for 2. These are going to be perfect in the garden (no flies in my drink, no sir) and also in the car or on my way to work. Smoothies on the go are a necessity in the morning, so these cups are ideal for me. They are melamine so can go in the dishwasher, and they are double layered so the air chamber helps keep your drink cold for longer. I love them!

I'm off to make myself a cup of my new favourite tea, Clipper nightime tea (or something) and a chopped apple sprinkled with cinnamon. Then I'm gonna cwtch up on the sofa and watch Lord Sugar and co before my early night - hopefully a good night's sleep will cure me! Are you watching The Apprentice? What did you think of last week's double firing?!

xoxo

when i heard the news, my heart skipped a beat

missoni is coming to target!
