Working Dogs: Labrador Retriever Silver Coin

A new series by Perth mint not to be missed by dog lovers, Working Dogs gets underway with this delightful release honouring the unique qualities of the Labrador Retriever. A gentle, devoted and playful breed, the Labrador Retriever’s great temperament is matched by initiative, concentration and a strong desire to please. Ideally suited to a number of working roles, it is best-known as an assistance dog providing invaluable mobility and independence to visually-impaired people. The coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality. Other dogs in future Working Dogs series: Border Collie, Australian Cattle Dog, Beagle and German Shepherd.



The coin’s reverse portrays a Labrador Retriever and a puppy in colour. As well as a decorative pattern of paw prints, the coin’s reverse also includes the inscriptions WORKING DOGS and LABRADOR RETRIVER – GUIDE DOG.


Issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu, the coin depicts the Raphael Maklouf effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the 2010 year-date on the obverse.
