I'm poorly sick with a horrible cold, so I thought that I'd review my other Soap & Glory product today to take my mind off being ill. Today is the turn of 'Flake Away' body scrub.
As with The Righteous Butter, I bought a mini 50ml tub to trial from Boots. It costs £2.25, and the big 300ml tub costs £6.36.This has the same overpowering perfume scent as The Righteous Butter, but it's toned down by the smell of shea butter. It smells a little bit like cocoa butter mixed with it. Odd combination but it makes the scent a lot more bearable! Cocoa butter is one of my favourite smells ever, so anything mixed with it is halfway to being a winner for me. Plus the smell doesn't bother me so much with this as it gets washed away in the shower.
This is a really thick scrub. It's almost like an oil or butter, full to the brim with scrubby bits that feel a lot like sugar. It seems like it would be a harsh scrub, but I don't find it to be harsh at all. The scrubby particles are quite fine. That said, I am used to abrasive exfoliators, so maybe those with more sensitive skin than mine would find this uncomfortable. I've used this 3/4 times and as you can see I still have enough left for another shower.
I like to turn the shower off, rub in a little bit of Flake Away, and massage it all over my body until most of it has dissolved. Then I turn the shower back on at a slightly higher temperature than before, and just watch it all melt away - leaving my body unbelievably soft. It leaves a sort of moisturising film behind, so if you are pushed for time you could skip moisturiser.
Honestly, this is the best product I have ever used. Bumpy upper arms? Rough elbows and knees? Dry, flaky skin? Dodgy fake tan? I can guarantee after a day or two of using this, your problems will disappear. Use it in conjunction with The Righteous Butter and you'll have people falling over themselves to feel your baby-soft skin! The two products were made for each other, but this is just as fabulous on it's own, and works just as well with other moisturisers.
As with all Soap & Glory products, Flake Away has uber-cute packaging with quirky puns. I'm a sucker for packaging, and this certainly ticks all the right boxes.
I am definitely repurchasing this badboy. I have many exfoliators in my bathroom, but none as fantastic as this - plus it's a bargainous £6.36, so is fantastic value for money. Definitely worthy of a 5/5 from me. My new Holy Grail body scrub.
All in all I am very impressed with Soap & Glory, and I can't wait to try more products. They're a funky company with products that really work. Some of the prices are a bit hit and miss, but they have travel size versions for you to sample if you don't feel like splashing too much cash. They're an animal-cruelty-free company too, which is a major bonus for me. I can see why they get raved about so much! I'm more likely to try 'washable' products unless they tone down the scent a little bit, but I'm okay with that! I'm looking forward to trying the face mask and cleanser, and their other sugar scrub. In fact, I can't wait to take a closer look at it all! :)
