As we all know, MAC release their new collections on the first Thursday of every month. Naked Honey was due for release on Thursday just gone, and Colour Craft due in August. I found out yesterday though, that both are being released on Monday 13th July. I wonder why they're doing that?
I planned on skipping Naked Honey and getting a few things from Colour Craft, namely the 226 and 131 brushes, some lippies, some blushes and maybe a MSF. But, because I accidentally overspent in Superdrug on Friday, I cut my wishlist down. All good in the hood, until I log on to Specktra today to find out there have been price increases!
I must live in my own little bubble because I had absolutely no idea that MAC were planning increases. I'm shocked and pretty pissed off to tell the truth. Surely in this economic climate, they should be encouraging people to spend money? People were complaining about spending £12 on a Dazzleglass so what bigwig had the brainwave to put the price up to £14? Yep, £14 people! And it's £19 for a Mineralize Skinfinish! For a few pence more I can get one from eBay where the prices have been jacked up like hell. Blush has been increased by £2 to £16. Seriously, what are they playing at?
It's not all as bad as that though. The lipsticks and eyeshadows are £12 and £11 respectively, which in all honesty, I don't think is that bad an increase. Of course it's frustrating, but I love the colour range, quality and variety of finishes that they have, not to mention the pay off is fantastic (for the most part). They're one of the best I've tried, and are now the same price as Urban Decay eyeshadows, which are of the same excellent quality and another love of mine.
It's certainly put things into perspective for me, and I will be more open to trying other brands from now on. I'm ranting now... but give me a week and I'll probably have forgotten all about the increases and be planning my next haul *rolls eyes*
So my Colour Craft list now contains one thing - the 226 brush that I missed out on with the Blonde Brunette Redhead collection - providing the price of that hasn't increased by 40% that is.
How do you feel about the increases? xx
