Whilst in Portobello Road last month, I nipped into Lush. Mr L was a bit baffled that we'd travelled all the way to London and ended up in Lush, but he also knows how much I adore Yummy Yummy Yummy shower cream, and how desperate I was to get one last bottle before it is discontinued for good. Unfortunately, that particular Lush store had none left, though the lovely sales guy gave me a sample. "The last bit of Yummy Yummy Yummy in the world", he said. He lied. Covent Garden had bucketloads left! But, I was a bit touched that he would've given me the last bit if it really was the last bit, and I still have my little sample because one day, it really will be the last bit of Yummy Yummy Yummy in the world - and guess who will be smelling like Strawberries while you all try to find a suitable replacement? Yep, moi! Okay, it's not even enough to do one armpit's worth of cleansing... but that's not the point.
To ease my disappointment (not only at the lack of my beloved shower cream, but also that the idiot from Lush Head Office hadn't been sacked for making the ridiculous decision to discontinue it in the first place) the sales guy introduced me to some of the new products. He tried to palm me off with some new, bubbling bath ballistic, but I told him I like sweet smells. Strawberry smells. Yummy (yummy yummy) smells. So he showed me one of the new soaps - Summer Pudding. One whiff of this and I was hooked, and snapped some up there and then. If you're at all familiar with Lush scents, it smells exactly like Sweetie Pie shower jelly. It smells really sweet, girly, and super-duper fruity, like blackcurrants, raspberries, cherries... that kinda thing. The cherries inside the bar gives that away really - and he gave me strict instructions not to eat the cherries, because he'd tried and was sick.
The name of the soap is cute, and it looks really pretty, coincidentally, much like a fruity summer pudding. Huh, who'd have thought it? The pink part is a really creamy soap that gives a good, rich lather. The cream coloured part is an exfoliating soap, with little bits of ground almonds. It's not abrasive enough to be classed as a full on body scrub, but it definitely helps with dry, flaky patches. Teaming the softening, cleansing properties of the pink bit, and the gentle exfoliation of the cream bit together in one bar is fantastic, and I feel really clean and refreshed after I've used it. The sales assistant likened the scrubby part to one of their facial cleansers - I think it was Angels on Bare Skin - but I've never tried that so can't compare it.
One more thing - Lush in Portobello Road has quite possibly become my new favourite Lush ever, and I've shopped at a few! The sales assistant was just fab - he was really friendly and helpful, and actually showed me products I would be interested in, rather than shoving loads of their new stuff down my neck. He also gave me 'The last bit of Yummy Yummy Yummy in the world', and for that alone he deserves a medal!
Have you tried the latest soapy offering from Lush?
xoxo
