I have heard nothing but good things about Soap & Glory products, so I succumbed and bought two. I only bought mini ones to try out, but the two I bought were 'The Righteous Butter' body butter, and 'Flake Away' body scrub. I've been trialling them for nearly 2 weeks, so I thought I'd add yet another review to the many doing the rounds!
Today I'm going to tell you what I think about The Righteous Butter. I got the mini 50ml tub in Boots for £2.25, but the big 300ml tub costs £9.79.
The first thing I noticed opening the tub was the scent. Lots of people have raved about it and said it smells amazing, but I really don't like it. It's heavily perfumed and if it wasn't so strong, I guess it could be quite pretty. It's sort of a floral/musky smell (haha I'm crap at explaining smells!). The smell is so strong that twice I went to bed with it on my chest, and both times I woke up with a headache. Urgh. From the smell alone, I didn't have high hopes. I still carried on with my trial though.
I love the consistency of this. It says it's best to apply it on damp skin, but I used it on dry skin aswell sometimes and it works just as well. It didn't feel like a thick or heavy butter, but a nice rich lotion. It sunk in pretty quickly too, and less than half an hour later my skin was super soft. The scent lingers (boo!), but you don't get a sticky, greasy feeling like you do with other creams and butters. As you can see I've still got loads of that little tub left, so a little goes a long way.
My favourite body butter is Boots Cocoa Butter body butter. It leaves my skin so beautifully soft and supple. I never thought anything would top it... but this does! I have never felt my skin this soft before. I'm going to admit something now... I can't stop stroking myself, which earns me a few dodgy looks. Even those problem areas like elbows and knees are smooth! I keep asking my colleagues to cop a feel, and they're all impressed.
The packaging is so cute and quirky. The little tub is the trademark Soap & Glory pink, with just the name of the brand and the product on it, but the big tub has lots of cute and funny quotes. They also claim that this butter is "so virtuous, you might swear you are wearing velvet". I couldn't agree more!
I'm going to buy the big tub as soon as this one runs out. The scent? Well, I still don't love it, but it's definitely growing on me. The scent changes slightly once on my skin - it's not so strong and is a lot more floral. Maybe this is the smell that everybody loves? As long as I avoid my chest area at bedtime, I think I can live with it. It's definitely more bearable when I see the fantastic results!
In short, I'm going to give it 4/5. The scent makes it lose a point, but obviously that is a personal preference.
