I think it's safe to say that 'Summer' is officially over. Here, in delightful Wales, we've had super strong winds and if it isn't raining, it's threatening to. Ever woken up to glorious sunshine, left the house in appropriate summer attire and sandals, then been caught short in the rain? I have many times, and it's all thanks to our British weather! So I'm definitely glad to see the Autumn collections hitting the stores. I can't wait to start wrapping up in boots and jumpers, and not having to leave the house with my bag full of things, just in case the weather changes. I know what to expect from Autumn/Winter, and as much as I love the sunshine, these colder months are my favourite time of year. It's the perfect excuse to cosy up with loved ones, or enjoy nights in with friends.
The big trends this Autumn are leaning toward a sexed up, glam twist on gothic and punk. Big names like Luella, Giles and YSL have been sporting black lips on the catwalk, and MAC are releasing their Style Black collection - eye and lip products dedicated to the deep and sultry colour. That name really sums up the Autumn/Winter trends for 2009 - dark and predominantly black, but stylish. How about a black lipgloss from YSL or Lancome? Black lipstick from MAC or Urban Decay? Even Lily Allen has been seen vamping it up!
I know that a black lip (or any dark lip colour for that matter) is a really hard look to pull off, so if you don't have the confidence (or the lips) to go for it, make a statement with your clothes instead. If you have money to burn and fancy splurging, how about some of these?
If they are out of your budget (they're certainly out of mine!) how about some of these high street offerings?
I really like the fashion elements of this trend, but the black lip is definitely too much for me. I also think it's easy to go overboard with this look, so I'll just be investing a pair of sexy studded boots, and a few accessories here and there. Will you be a glam punk during these colder months?
