A bit about Damselfly
It started with a coat - a glowing raspberry red coat with a blue silk lining and hand finished details on the collar and cuffs. Everything came together in it perfectly - the tactile quality of the wool cloth, the specially dyed color, the investment of time and the care put into creating the details - and when creator Faith imagined a young girl wearing it, the vision for her new label became clear ...
Imagine a child with her arms open wide, running free and wild down a hill with the wind blowing her clothes and her hair. She’s laughing, full of wonder, and feels as if she can do anything ... maybe even fly. Her coat is flowing open and she loves the flash of colour and the sheen of the silk lining. Someone has spent time hand working patterns onto the cuffs in silk thread and they catch the sun as she runs. She knows that she is special.
That was, and is, the damselfly vision - to make clothes that capture something of that moment. The girl who wears them feels so good that she could fly, and this feeling of being special comes from knowing that what she is wearing has been made by people who love what they do. It’s not about brands or big names or mass production. It’s about putting time into the making and adding original touches by hand.
Faith likes to think that the creative pleasure that she, and the small, talented team who help her with production, have in designing and making is carried through the clothes that Damselfly produces and that the wearer feels good because of it.

My Review
I was sent an Yellow Apron Dress with Silk Ruffle detail from Damselfly to review. The Apron Dress is made from 100% Belgian Linen {sustain-ably processed by dew retting in the fields} with trim and lining made of 100% silk. The dress is soft, sweet, and beautifully made down to the very last detail. The panels on the front and back of the dress are decorated with primrose silk ruffles that have been hand cut with a deckle edge. The ruffles are attached with a special Damselfly technique for a unique textured appearance. The dress features two large pockets-perfect for trinkets and treasures collected out in the cottage or fairy forest.
When I presented my daughter with the Yellow Apron Dress she squealed with delight. She said that the dress was a 'Fairy Princess Dress'. The dress was a bit large on top which didn't surprise me at all since my daughter is SUPER petite...but I am loving the fact that she will get to wear this beautiful piece of art clothing for some time. My only wish? That Damselfly made clothing in my size!
The company did send me a product or service for review. This in no way has affected my opinion of the product or service. This review is my opinion and has been written in my own words
