As soon as I settle into a skincare routine I think is working, my skin starts flipping out on me. The problem is mainly dry skin, and elements of this skincare routine, although it worked at first, was just not working for me anymore. So whilst doing my food shopping recently, I browsed the beauty aisles and found this cleanser by L'Oreal, and thought since it was less than a fiver I might as well give it a go.
My skin issues are mainly dry, flaky patches, particularly on my cheeks, so I bought the one for dry and sensitive skin. I was really intrigued by the little scrublet that comes with it - a little rubber pad with lots of tiny rubber bristles, kind of like the rubber tongue cleaner you can get on some toothbrushes.
What does L'Oreal say?

What do I say?
Well first of all, I don't like the packaging. I don't think it would look out of place with a Disney character on the front of it, sat on a shelf full of children's bubble baths. I like it even less when I found that the girls in the USA get something a little more sleek:
As ugly as it is, I can't deny the practicality of it. You can either store your little scrublet in the hole in the tube, or you can stick it to your bathroom tiles/mirror as it has a suction pad on the back, which is what I do.
I use mine by wetting may face and the scrublet, squeezing a small amount of cleanser onto the scrublet (kind of a 5p piece size), then massaging it onto my face in a circular motion, concentrating most on my cheeks. That amount of cleanser is plenty to do the whole of my face and I don't need to keep adding water to get it to lather up.

The actual cleanser is lovely. It's nice and creamy and creates a lovely, velvety lather when it's massaged into your skin, so you only need to use a little bit. When I remove my make up at night, I use a Simple wipe to get my mascara off, then get the rest of my make up of with this. I then cleanse again with this to make sure I've got every scrap of dirt off my face. After the very first wash where I removed the make up, I noticed my cheeks tingling and my skin felt slightly tighter, but on my second wash I had no problems, and the tingling/tight sensation had disappeared. I've not experienced any effects like that since either, so I'm assuming my skin wasn't used to being so clean!
I really like the cleanser, but for me the selling point of this product has got to be the scrublet. It looks quite scary because of the rubber bristles, but it feels really nice when I'm using it. It feels like it's giving my skin a good massage and it helps work the cleanser deep into my pores, so it gives my skin a good scrubby clean without being harsh. You can actually see the dirt coming off onto the pad, and I love that you can just wash all the muck away and use it again.
My skin has been glowing for a few weeks now - it just looks so healthy. Because it is a cream cleanser, it is really moisturising and I've noticed a significant decrease in the amount of dry patches I've had. I also haven't needed to exfoliate as often because the scrublet is a multi-tasker. It's still in perfect condition after a almost a month of using it three times a day (once in the morning and twice at night), and there's still over half a tube left of the cleanser, so it's excellent value for money too.
Price?
It costs £4.99 and is available from Boots, Superdrug, and most supermarkets that stock skincare products. These places often have 3 for 2 offers on too.
Would I repurchase?
Definitely! There are others in the range too;
- Refreshing Foaming Gel Wash - oil-free so best suited for normal/combination skin
- Purifying Foaming Gel Wash - containing salicylic acid for those prone to spots
- Exfoliating Foaming Gentle Scrub - a gentle exoliator for all skin types that can be used in conjuction with any of the other cleansers in the range
I'm quite interested in trying the Exfoliating one next!
Hope you found my review helpful!
xoxo
