2011 is the year I will...

Hello cupcakes, hope you're well? I know many of you have gone back to work/school this week after your Christmas break, and I really feel your pain. The first day back usually sucks, but I actually went back to work last Wednesday! I'm quite glad for some kind of routine to settle into, to be honest. I really enjoy the festivities but I think there is such a build-up now that it seems to last forever, but alas, it's well and truly over now. The Christmas yum-yums are diminishing and the decorations are finally down. As pretty as they are, I always feel glad to see my house again, and I'm so relieved that I can eat 'proper' food at 'proper' times. I am fond of a routine, as much as it kills me in the mornings!

Despite having quite an easy and calm day in work today, I came home feeling really tired - I think that's the come-down from Christmas setting in! I decided to indulge in a bath with some Lush. I had a really lovely gift set off my sister-in-law and am only now having 5 minutes peace to myself to enjoy it! I used a Satsumo Santa bath ballistic, which turned the water a bright orange-red colour so it looked like I was boiling myself up in tomato soup! It smelled fab though. Really satsuma-y (obvs), but more relaxing than the usual refreshing citrussy scents. It was just so blissful to just lay back and calm myself after a somewhat hectic festive season!

Whilst I was soaking (and singing, a la Julia) I had a little think about what I'd like to achieve this year - not resolutions as such, moreso goals that I can tick off as I go along. I want to look back through the year and have something that stands out every month.

So... 2011 is the year I will...

♥ Adopt a more positive and happy attitude. It's no secret that I tend to look on the dark side of life, but I'm hoping that with the 'Happy Things' series I am embarking on, I can stop being so full of doom and gloom!

♥ Book a trip to New York. I have always, always wanted to go to NYC at Winter or Christmas. Ideally we'll have booked for December 2011, but if we haven't, I'd like to be in the process of booking for December 2012.

♥ Buy my domain. I want a dotcom, dammit!

♥ Complete a Project 365. I started one in 2008 with another forum I was a member of, but as I stopped visiting the forum, I stopped taking photos too. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't amazing, but I did enjoy it and now and again I got some lovely pictures.

♥ Save for our wedding. We still haven't booked our gorgeous venue. We were well on our way to having the deposit all saved up when the car buggered up. A few months later and it's still not right, but ho hum.

♥ Get a new car. 'Nuff said!

♥ Buy a decent 'proper' camera and actually learn how to use it. My camera is actually fucked, which will make completing Project 365 a little difficult!

♥ Add a few charms to my Pandora bracelet. My wonderful parents got me one for Christmas, with the cutest cow charm I've ever seen because my Mam and I are udderly (geddit?!) obsessed with cows and cow related things. She's my cow and I'm her cow :) I don't want to add charms for the sake of it - I want each one to mean something or symbolise something, so it will be a slow and steady process, but that's the fun!

♥ Read 25 new books. I'm a bookworm anyway, but I've had the habit of re-reading my favourites lately.

What are your goals for this year?

xoxo
