Penny Black XMouse Ornament & snowflakes

Hello peeps! Hope you are having a great weekend where you are - it is freezing where I am - so it didn't take much encouragement to make a Wintry Christmas card. Plus a set of new Cuttlebug Winter Wonderland embossing folders appeared in my mailbox on Friday. It is a fantastic set - check it out here at Fat Cat's Card Corner. Boy, I sure do LOVE this new set.
There's not much to explain about this card. Just a simple one-layer-card with this cute little Penny Black mouse. Isn't he sweet? I coloured him with OMS and Prismas, then added some fine glitter to the mouse's cheeks, ears and to the snowflake he is hanging onto. I lightly chalked around the image with blue chalk. Lastly, I added some white pearls to most of the snowflakes on the dry embossing. It only took me 20 minutes! That must be a record for me!

I think I could make a bunch of these just with different images or even just a sentiment instead of an image.

I'm popping this card into the Splitcoaststampers Technique Lover's Challenge TLC277 of One Layer Wonders from about 2 weeks ago. I've made so many layered cards of late, that it was nice to get back to basics.

Halloween card

I thought I would make a Halloween card just for something different after I saw the Splitcoaststampers Clean and Simple Challenge CAS89 of a Sketch inspired by kstamper's card here which I loved - so this is my take on the Sketch.

I have had this old spider and web stamp for years and years and forgot I had the stamps until today when I was looking for some inspiration among my stamps for a Halloween card. I must admit: I hate spiders. I am the sort of person who would jump out of a moving car to get away from one, or abandon my car in the middle of the freeway. One of my recurring nightmares is hundreds of spiders dropping down from a ceiling on top of me - it seems so real that I usually jump out of bed in my sleep - which then scares poor DH.....anyway, enough waffle and onto the card.......

The black embossed background was made with a newly released Sizzix Textured Impression embossing folder called "Winter Set #3" (comes as a set of 2 folders). The spider and web were stamped with black pigment ink and heat-embossed with clear embossing powder which makes them stand out alot more than just using dye ink. Then I inked all the edges with the same pigment ink and added embossing powder to that too. Can you see that little spider lurking at the RHS side ready to jump out at you (insert scream here!)? Thought I would do that just for a bit of fun! I stamped him on a scrap of black cardstock, heat embossed him, then cut him out and glued him under the terracotta panel. I coloured the eyes with Cadmium Yellow Acrylic paint to make them look really bright - like they are looking right at you.

The EEK sentiment was done with an alphabet foam-mounted stamp set I bought from KMart years ago - don't know if it's still available. I don't have any Halloween sentiments, so came up with this instead - I thought I would stamp the letters at any angle for a bit of interest - wish I had had an exclamation mark to add to it. These letters were also heat-embossed.

I am entering this card into 2 Challenges - both with Halloween themes: The first is Crazy 4 Challenges C4C60 and the 2nd is Dutch Dare Card Challenge DDCC #89 which also has the alternative colour theme of purple, black, orange and green if you didn't want to make a Halloween card).

Cuttlebug Winter Wonderland Christmas baubles

I had this idea in my head to make an all-white Christmas card using only embossing - no designer papers, glitter or stamps - something that was easy to mass-produce for Christmas - and this is what I came up with. My little Craft Room has been a hive of activity this week - what a mess - it looks like something exploded in there while my mojo has been running on overtime!!

Not much to explain. I corner-punched the cardstock before I did the embossing - otherwise you will squash/mark your embossing with the punch (yes, I know that's logical, but I found out the hard way!). The baubles are one of the folders from the new Cuttlebug Winter Wonderland set and I made two score lines with my Martha Stewart scoring board, THEN used my timeless Swiss dots embossing folder on the ends. By doing the score lines first, you can butt your dots folder up against the line so that you will be sure it is straight.

ETA: Thanks to Joy who emailed me as she was stumped at how I did the dry embossing - it never occurred to me to explain it - so here's how I did it:

I started with a separate piece of white cardstock to my actual card – the size I generally use for a card-front on regular (ie: non-square) cards is 15cm high x 10.5cm wide (which is just a shade over 6 inches x 4 inches if you prefer imperial measurements instead of metric). So it is then easy to pop your separate piece of cardstock into your embossing folder to put thru your Cuttlebug.

Once I had finished my embossing & added the ribbon, I then glued this separate sheet of cardstock to my card front which I had already corner-punched and is the same size as my separate sheet of cardstock – in this instance, I chose to have a top opening card – and neatened any edges that were sticking out – so it LOOKS like it is just a one layer card but in reality, it is 2 layers – the embossed/decorated front panel is just attached to the actual card front - you can hardly tell unless you are looking for it. In fact, I do this for many of my cards.

The reason I like to do it this way is for several reasons:

1. So it is easy to do the dry embossing
2. If I add a ribbon, I can hide the ribbon edges under this layer so they don’t show at all – looks neater that way
3. I can do the inside of the card before I attach the front panel, and if I mess it up, I can throw that bit away and do it again (and you have no idea how many times I manage to smudge the inside greetings or stamp them crookedly or even upside down - insert groan and rolling eyes here...LOL!) - it's like my fail-safe escape plan for my dumb dingbat stamping methods......

I thought the card needed a little pizazz, so I added the sparkly red star brad to the ribbon. I actually cut the prongs off and glued it on - I couldn't get the prongs to wrap neatly around the ribbon plus the ends were sticking out, so it was much quicker to cut the prongs off and glue (I will know that for NEXT time so I don't have to fiddle and fiddle and fiddle LOL!!)

I'm popping this card into this week's Splitcoaststampers CAS75 Challenge of "Dry embossing" - plus I am entering it in the ABC Christmas Challenge of "O is for Ornaments" - with the added option to add some gloss and shine to your creation - which is my red sparkly Star brad. The brad doesn't look very sparkly in the photo - no sunshine here today - cold, dull, Wintery and cloudy so not great for showing up "sparkliness"!

Vintage Christmas card using Martha Stewart Holly Combo punch

I couldn't help myself - I just HAD to do another one of "my style" Vintage Christmas cards incorporating my gorgeous Martha Stewart Holly Combo punch. Now I don't do all the distressed, ripped and torn edges and rough stitching etc that other Vintage cardmakers do; that's not really my "thing" - so this is just my take on what I perceive as Vintage-style.

The image is from the Debbi Moore Vintage Christmas CD which I printed onto white cardstock with my Canon printer using the High Quality setting then added some red glitter to all the holly berries. This main image is up on 1mm mounts. The Vintage diecut corners are from my Cuttlebug Vintage Die set and these are up on 2mm mounts.

Because I LOVE lots of texture on my cards, I ran my designer paper thru my Cuttlebug using the Holly Berries embossing folder - although you can't really tell now that the ribbon covers it LOL! I ran the burgundy cardstock underneath the Holly border thru my Cuttlebug too using the Textile embossing folder. I did run the cardstock thru twice as the square of cardstock was bigger than the embossing folder - didn't really need to match up the pattern - I just wanted the appearance of texture around the edges.

I did 'age' each layer including the image and sentiment panel quite heavily with Antique Linen Distress Ink and a seasponge.

The sentiment was stamped with Burgundy pigment ink and heat-embossed. To do the holly on the sentiment panel, I punched a scrap of dark olive cardstock with the Holly corner punch, then used my small curved-blade scissors to cut a little section off and neaten up the curves/stems to make it look better. I punched three tiny circles from burgundy cardstock using my Doily Lace punch as the leftover circles after using the punch were the perfect size. Of course, if you didn't have this punch, you might have another border punch that leaves little leftover circles - I just didn't have a circle punch THAT tiny for the berries. I always love to look at the leftovers of what my border punches punch out - often you can get useful little things to use like little hearts or circles, or even snowflakes. I added some red glitter to the holly berries too. This panel is up on 1.5mm mounts.

The gorgeous silk ribbon was attached in 2 separate elements and the bow itself was made with my Bow Easy.

Vintage Christmas Greetings from the Debbi Moore Vintage Christmas CD

Hi and thanks for stopping by :-) I have scheduled this post because I have a very busy week ahead. Plus I need to make a few cards over the next few days - including a 90th male birthday card - and I haven't a clue what to do - I shall need to put on my thinking-cap for that one!!

Today's post is another Fat Cat's Design Team Vintage Christmas card made using an image from the NEW Vintage Christmas Debbi Moore Image CD. See this link to the CD at Fat Cat's Card Corner.

I enlarged my image a little, then printed it onto white cardstock using the easy-to-follow directions on the CD and selected the "best" quality print for my Canon printer. So quick and easy when you don't need to colour anything in!! :-)

Not sure if you can see in the photo, but I added some very fine red glitter to the holly berries on the image.

All the Designer papers are free digital August downloads from Bearly Mine Designs. I ran the red dp thru my Cuttlebug using the Textile embossing folder just to add a bit of interest, but you could use any CB folder eg: script, Deb Devine, etc to get the same effect.

Each card layer has Tim Holtz Linen Distress ink sponged around the edges to darken them.

The fancy corners are from the Cuttlebug Vintage Die set and the tag is from the Cuttlebug Tiny Tags die set.

Cuttlebug Winter Wonderland - Hanging Christmas Baubles

Hi and welcome to another scheduled post whilst I can't access my computer for 2 weeks (sniff!!).

Another quick and simple Christmas card using one of the embossing folders from the Cuttlebug Winter Wonderland set - available here from Fat Cat's Card Corner in Queensland.

Not much to explain. The sentiment was heat-embossed with gold embossing powder and the stars next to the sentiment were diecut from my Cuttlebug Snowflake #2 die (which includes snowflakes and stars). I added some fine gold glitter to these stars.

The ribbon was attached in 2 separate elements, and the bow itself was made with my Bow Easy. The star on the bow was punched with a Carl CP-1 star punch and was glittered with gold glitter.

Unity A Beautiful Sight - A Winter Wonderland

Hi and welcome :-)

I made this clean and simple DT Christmas card with a new Unity stamp called 'A Beautiful Sight' that Fat Cat's Card Corner sent to me this week. The words behind the tree are from the Christmas song: Winter Wonderland - which is one of my favourite Christmas songs. I know it's Summer here at Christmas, but I still love all things "snowy" for my Christmas cards. And I especially LOVE white and gold Christmas cards - they just seem to speak "elegant" which I hope is what I achieved with my card. It is very, very difficult to take good photographs of gold on a card - I tried outside in the sun, but the gold looked all dark and miserable or reflected so much sunlight, the white background all but disappeared, so did a compromise and photographed it in my home with reflected sunlight from my kitchen window but with the overhead kitchen downlights on to show up some sparkle. Not easy - but I hope you get the idea of what it really looks like - and it is much nicer IRL!

The snowflakes embossing is one of the folders from the Cuttlebug Winter Wonderland set (there are 6 folders in the set). I stamped the tree with gold pigment ink and heat-embossed it with gold embossing powder, then diecut the panel with my Deckled Rectangle Nesties and popped the panel up on 1mm mounts (dimensionals).

I diecut two snowflakes and popped them up on 2mm mounts, then added a dot of gold pearl dimensional paint in the centres - does take quite a while to dry though (at the time of writing this post, it's now some hours since I did it, and it's still not quite dry - probably will take overnight). You can get this paint at Riot Art and Craft Stores, and comes in a little bottle about the size of Stickles/Kindyglitz and isn't expensive.

The ribbon was attached in 2 separate elements and the bow itself was made with my Bow Easy. I'm pretty sure the ribbon came from a $2 Shop and was on a reel that had a couple of metres.

Cuttlebug Season's Greetings - CAS Christmas cards

Hi and thanks for taking the time to visit my Blog :-)

I whipped up a couple of CAS (Clean and Simple) Christmas cards where I let the embossing folder do all the hard work and then simply embellished them. You can find this Cuttlebug 'Season's Greetings' embossing folder at Fat Cat's Card Corner. I corner-punched the cardstock BEFORE I ran it through the Cuttlebug - if you do it the other way, you will squash or mark your embossing.

I added some light blue rhinestones to the snowflake centres, then added the silver-edged sheer blue organza ribbon in 2 separate elements - the bow was made with my Bow Easy. I threaded a Snowflake charm with silver cord then threaded the cord through the blue ribbon bow centre and tied a knot which is hidden underneath the bow centre. I did add some Fray Stop to the edges of the silver cord and the blue ribbon - you can find Fray Stop at Spotlight, Riot Art and Craft or even you local supermarket.

And here is the white version:

I decided to layer the white embossed panel onto Bazzill Bling Aqua cardstock (not sure of the actual cardstock colour name - that's just what I call it!) - which matched my sparkly aqua ribbon perfectly - then layered that onto more white cardstock. The layer borders are very small - only because I kept trimming to make them even, then kept trimming because I trimmed one crooked, and had to make that straight which then made that border narrower than the others, so I kept trimming, trimming.........sheesh, don't let me prune your rose bushes or you will have no garden left LOL!!

The ribbon was again attached in 2 separate elements and the bow was made with my Bow Easy. Because this ribbon frays terribly, I added Fray Stop to it first, let it dry, THEN cut it - that way, it doesn't fray at all. I diecut a snowflake, added Opal fine glitter, then glued this to the bow centre, then added a Kaiser Lagoon rhinestone to this snowflake and rhinestones to the snowflake centres on the embossed panel. Here is a wee close-up of the snowflake.

Easy peasy for mass producing and great to have on hand for those unexpected cards you always need at the last minute. I don't know about you, but I always get a few cards from people I didn't expect - usually in the week before Christmas - so I always like to have a few "extras" on hand for those times.

Unity - A Beautiful Sight - Little Christmas Gift Bag

 

Hi and welcome to my Blog :-)

About a year ago, I came across a template and instructions (including a video) for making a little Gift Bag, and finally got around to making one.  Now that I have had a little play and realised how quick and easy it was, I have made about 10 of them!  Make sure that you start off with the cardstock cut exactly to the specifications, or it will turn out all wonky.

You can find the instructions here at the Stamping Videos blog.  If you scroll down a little, you can click on a link to the written instructions and the template and print them out.  The video is really easy to follow too.

I decided to emboss my cardstock - just because I LOVE my Cuttlebug LOL - before I scored the lines with my Scor-Pal.  You don't have to use a Scor-Pal but it sure makes it quick and easy if you have one.  Once I did the scoring, I used one of my Labels Trio dies to diecut the top part where the handle is, THEN folded the box up and glued it.  Don't fold the box up then diecut the top part it as it is much harder that way and most likely will end up crooked (trust me:  I know from experience!!).

The image is a gorgeous new stamp called "A Beautiful Sight" by Unity Stamps - which is available from Fat Cat's Card Corner.  The image was stamped with gold pigment ink and heat-embossed with gold embossing powder, then diecut with my Deckled Rectangle Nestabilities.  I diecut some snowflakes from gold cardstock and popped them up on mounts (dimensionals).

Lastly, I tied on two different ribbons. Easy peasy.   And just for something different, I made a purple one for something non-traditional for Christmas (plus purple is my favourite colour!):

Instead of diecutting the top part for the ribbon, I used a standard-sized hole punch.  The tree was stamped with Heliotrope pigment ink and heat-embossed with clear embossing powder.  I inked the edges of the diecut snowflakes and added a purple gem to the centres.  Here is a top view of the box:

The finished size of the box is 4-3/4" high x 3" wide, and is the perfect size for popping in a Gift Card eg: Bunnings, Coles/Myer, Target etc., some lollies, or a little present for your child's teacher.

I have made a Vintage-style one using the same Unity stamp which I will share with you soon.  Have a go at these little bags - once you make 1 or 2, you will realise how quick and easy they are.   

I popping these gift bags into the Unity Challenge #25 over at Splitcoaststampers where this week's challenge is to make an UN-CARD, ie: something that is NOT a card such as an ornament, a pretty gift box, altered item etc.

CAS Matchbox Sympathy card using Craft Concepts Budding Vine embossing folder

Over at Splitcoaststampers, this week's Clean and Simple Challenge CAS91 is 'With Sympathy', so I set to work to make a simple card to have on hand. This card came together so quickly and easily - I love it when that happens!

Recently, when I was at my local Riot Art and Craft shop (Aussie store), I found these blank white Matchbox cards (they are A2 size and come in a pack of 8) and thought they looked nice. Of course, you can make your own. I couldn't find a tutorial on SCS or by Googling it so perhaps it is called something else in the USA (?). Anyway, I think by the extra photo of the opened card, you could see how to make your own plus I added some directions/measurements below. Note that this card already came with the scalloped edge on the LH flap.

I embossed the RH flap of the card with my gorgeous Craft Concepts Budding Vine embossing folder (LOVE this folder!) and the LH flap was embossed with one of the narrow folders from the Cuttlebug 'With Love' set.

The ribbon actually ties around the card, and you slip it off to open the card. I diecut the tag using one of the tags from the Spellbinder Ribbon Tags Trio, then threaded the ribbon thru and tied it at the back of the card. I made a bow with my Bow Easy and glued this to the ribbon but made sure I didn't touch the cardstock in the process otherwise the ribbon/sentiment wouldn't slip off the card - the bow is meant to look like it is around the daisy stems.

I punched two tiny hearts using my EK Success Arrows border punch (the leftover punchies when you use the punch look like tiny hearts) and glued them to each side of the sentiment. Lastly, I added some fine white glitter to these hearts plus the centres of the daisy flowers on the LH panel. This is a really white glitter - it doesn't have the blue/pinky tones that some white glitters have - and I prefer my really white one for Sympathy cards to give an understated look.

The inside of the card simply says "With Sympathy".

* the LH flap is 1-1/2" wide

* the RH flap (which tucks under the LH flap a little) is 4-1/4" wide

* the card bottom (base) is 5-1/2" wide

* the height of the card is 4-1/4"

Take a sheet of cardstock 11-1/4" long (x 4-1/4" wide), and use your Imperial Scor Pal/Scoring Board to score lines at 1-1/2" (which will be the LH flap) and 7" (which will be the RH flap).

Don't forget that if you are going to use a border punch on the LH flap, you would need to add extra width to that flap so that once you have punched your border, the RH flap would still tuck under the LH flap, otherwise it will be too narrow and won't tuck in.

The good thing about this style of card is that you can turn it around and have the small flap at the RHS instead, or vertically so that the small flap is at the top, or the other way up so that the small flap is at the bottom. Very versatile and something a bit different to the norm - and easy.

House Mouse Sleepy Stocking: Clean and Simple Christmas Hat

I made a clean, quick and simple card using just the hat and one of the sentiments from my House Mouse 'Sleepy Stocking' set.  This particular set isn't up on Fat Cat's Card Corner's website yet, but keep an eye out - I'm sure it will be soon (there are already some House Mouse sets listed here).   I coloured the hat with Prismacolor and Derwent Coloursoft pencils plus OMS, then added some Polar White FlowerSoft - I LOVE the texture that the FlowerSoft adds - it is such cool stuff!!

The main image panel is up on 1mm mounts (dimensionals).  The ribbon is a much brighter green IRL - more like Irish Green - but being sparkly, it was rather difficult to photograph.  The green and red cardstock underneath the main image panel is also a bit brighter IRL.

The embossing on the white cardstock is a Cuttlebug Embossing folder called:  Season's Greetings  although my cardstock was smaller than the folder, so some of the writing isn't on my cardstock.

Lastly, I added a green pearl either side of the sentiment, and a red pearl to the diecut snowflake on the ribbon.

Although I have already made a card for the SCS Inspiration Challenge IC253 - see this link for the deets - I was so inspired by the John Lewis Department Store, that I made another card.  This card was inspired by this red and white Christmas ornament here.  I really liked the red & white combo and the red border, which made me think of my new Eyelet Nesties and how I could layer some red cardstock underneath to make a border.  I did end up adding the green cardstock layer and the green ribbon - the card ended up needing a little "pizazz".  I would love to get the round Eyelet Nesties one day - I think I would use them alot - in fact, I would love to see similar Nesties but with snowflakes or stars instead of the circles.  Oh well, it's nice to dream.......

Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer card using Stamp-It Reindeer Text stamp

I whipped up a simple card using a lovely vintage stamp from Stamp-It Australia called "Reindeer Text".  You can find the stamp here at Fat Cat's Card Corner.  It was stamped onto cream cardstock with Vintage Sepia ink and then diecut using the newly-released Spellbinder Eyelet Square Nestabilities.  The nestie fitted the image perfectly (don't you love it when that happens?!).  These nesties are not on Fat Cat's website yet, but keep an eye out:  I'm sure they will be soon.

I heavily distressed the image with Antique Linen ink and a seasponge (as are all the layers on the card) and the image panel is up on 1mm mounts (dimensionals).  I added a little red rhinestone to his nose - check it out with this close-up:

If you don't have such a tiny rhinestone, you could just use some Red Stickles instead.  My rhinestone actually came from one of those little Basic Grey bling pictures - I like them because they usually have some very tiny rhinestones on them and are smaller than the Kaiser rhinestone sets. 

The ribbon came from Kenny's Cardiology (you will find this store at most larger Australian shopping centres) - where I buy my DD her Beanie (Kids) bears.  When I was in there the other day, I noticed that they had a stand of rolls of wide ribbon, so being a ribbon-a-holic, I had to get some LOL.  I love the sparkles in this particular ribbon - think I might get some more...... ;-)  The ribbon was attached in 2 separate elements, and the bow itself was made with my Bow Easy.

I am entering this card into 2 Challenges.  The first is Allsorts Challenge Blog where this week's challenge #73 is 'Inspiration from a Song Title'  Well, of course it's Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer (bet you're singing it now.....).  The other Challenge is Papertake Weekly Challenge which is 3 of a Kind - which can be anything like 3 papers, 3 buttons etc.  I have used just 3 colours on my card:  cream, brown and red.

Sympathy card using Cuttlebug and Sizzix embossing folders

I found myself needing to make a Sympathy card during the past week for a lady whose husband passed away.  It's never easy making a Sympathy card and I like to keep things simple.

I corner-punched the cardstock first (if you do it after the embossing, it squashes and marks the embossing - maybe that's a 'no-brainer' but I have often done it after, and then wished that I hadn't!!) - then used one of my narrow embossing folders from my Cuttlebug 'With Love' folder set.  I added the Scor-pal line so I could butt my Sizzix Textured Impression embossing folder up against the line - that way, I knew the embossing would be straight.  I have found that if I do the embossing first, then add the Scor-Pal line afterwards, it is almost always crooked.  Even if you squash the Scor-Pal line a little, you can just re-do it.

The ribbon was attached in 2 separate elements and the bow itself was made with my Bow Easy.  The sentiment panel is up on 1mm mounts.  I only had really wide organza ribbon, but folded it in half and it turned out looking OK - though it was a bit fiddly to hold it folded in half while I was putting it through my Bow Easy!

I added some very fine white glitter to the flower centres as well as the punched hearts on the sentiment panel.  It's a really white glitter which I prefer for my Sympathy cards - this glitter is not like Kindyglitz Crystalina which has the pinky-blue hues in it.  Adds that bit of "something" but still understated and not over-the-top (well, that is what I hoped to achieve).

I'm popping this card into this week's Splitcoaststampers Inspiration Challenge IC253 where the inspiration for your card comes from the John Lewis Department Stores website.  While I was thinking about what to make for this card - and thinking of a bunch of white flowers - I came across this image of beautiful white freesias.  As soon as I saw them, I thought of my Cuttlebug 'With love' narrow bunch of flowers folder and my Sizzix Floral Flourishes folder - the stems and unopened buds on the freesias reminded me of this Sizzix folder: hence my combination of the two folders.

ATC Christmas Collection Vintage card

Hello and welcome to my Blog :-)

I had this idea going around in my head to make a Design Team card for Fat Cat's Card Corner with my NEW Martha Stewart Holly Leaves Combo punch and have the holly leaves as the main border around the card, and this is what I came up with.  No stamping or colouring on this card which is a great time-saver.

I started with a 5 inch square piece of green cardstock, then following the directions on the back of the packaging, I punched the corners first, then the sides.  It all worked out first go (phew!!).  I then cut off one side of the punched cardstock (so then I had 3 sides with holly leaves), and attached the panel to a white square card to make the card a top-opening card.  I did have to cut the white card down a little so that none of the white cardstock showed through the green holly borders.   Gee, I hope that makes sense!  Drop me an email if it doesn't!!

The gorgeous Vintage image is from a little pad called: ATC Collection - Christmas by Leisure Arts.  See this pic of the pad:

The pad is about 65mm wide x 90mm long (or 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" if you are imperial)  and there are 2 of each image.  See this link here to the ATC Vintage Pads/Booklets at Fat Cat's Card Corner.  There are all different types: pets, men, oriental, women etc.   I did cut down my image a little then heavily distressed it with Antique Linen Distress ink and a seasponge.  I then added some fine red glitter to all the berries.  I used a pin to dob tiny little dots of Designer Dries clear adhesive so I didn't end up with giant blobs and a big mess.  This panel is up on 1mm mounts (dimensionals).

I aged/distressed all the other parts of the card using the same Antique Linen ink.

I ran the designer paper thru my Cuttlebug using the Holly Ribbons embossing folder - I just wanted to have some extra texture to the card.  Note that this folder is the LARGER size to regular ef's, ie: this one is 5" x 7".   The designer paper is retired now but there are so many gorgeous Vintage papers out there that you would easily find a substitute.

The ribbon is made of silk and was attached in 2 separate elements to the card, and the bow itself was made with my Bow Easy.

I'm popping this card into the Splitcoaststampers 'Ways to Use It' Challenge WT289 of Holiday Headstart where you can make any sort of holiday card, eg: Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc.

Hi and welcome to my Blog :-)  I was going to upload this card yesterday, but the weather turned all dark, windy and stormy so I couldn't take a photo until today.

I decided to start a Christmas tradition a few years ago that I would read the poem by Clement C Moore - 'Twas the Night Before Christmas - to my DD just before bedtime on Christmas Eve in the loungeroom where we have our (real!) Christmas Tree with just the Christmas tree lights on.   Ahh, it makes me feel so happy just thinking about it!!   The first part of the poem reads (which probably most people would know):

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house

Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,

In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;

So when another Design Team Pack arrived in the mail this week from Fat Cat's Card Corner - including one of the cutest Christmas stamp sets - this House Mouse 'Sleepy Stocking' set - I immediately thought of this poem.   Isn't this set just adorable?!!  It comes as unmounted rubber which you simply attach to EZ Mounting Foam then cut out.  These stamps are very finely detailed and stamp beautifully, plus they come with a colour picture which is helpful for colouring.  The stamps aren't up on the Fat Cat's website yet, but they will be very soon - there are other House Mouse stamp sets already listed - check them out here.

I coloured the image with OMS and Prismacolor pencils as well as Derwent Coloursoft Pencils.  Upon the advice from an on-line buddy that these Derwents blend with OMS like Prismas, I bought myself a set - and they blend beautifully.  They don't feel as 'waxy' as Prismas when you are colouring, but they blend just as well as Prismas with the OMS, and it has been nice to fill in some of the gaps in my colour range of Prismas.  Plus I have a few Prisma pencils that don't blend very well at all - don't know why - but I'm a happy camper now.  Anyway, enough waffle, and onto the card.........

I added some yellow chalk around the image to simulate the 'glow' from the Christmas light, then lightly shaded around the image.  I also added some Crystal Lacquer (same stuff as Dimensional Magic) to the light to make it shine - see this closeup.  Doesn't it look cool?!!

The holly and berries in the top LH corner were cut out from the Designer Paper.  I LOVE this new Kaisercraft 'Be Merry' paper - LOVE the colours.

The sentiment tag was diecut with my Cuttlebug using one of the Tiny Tags dies, then layered it onto scarlet cardstock.  The tiny hearts are the leftover punchies from my EK Success Arrows border punch - if you are a regular visitor to my Blog, you know I always have to add them to my cards somewhere..... LOL!

The bottom holly border was made with a Martha Stewart Holly Leaves punch (comes as a Punch Around the Page combo set).  Not sure if you can see, but I added a score line just above the holly using my Martha Stewart Scoring board. 

Both panels are up on mounts (dimensionals).

Vintage Card #5 from the Debbi Moore Vintage Christmas CD

Hi and welcome to my world :-)  Now that the school holidays are almost over, I am hoping to go back to my usual blog posting of Wednesdays and Saturdays. 

This is my 5th Design Team Vintage Christmas card from the Debbi Moore Vintage Christmas CD available from Fat Cat's Card Corner.  If this particular image looks familiar, it's because I made a card using it just over a month ago - see here.  But the main difference between that card and this one, is I did no distressing or aging on this one. 

I printed the image onto textured cream cardstock using the "Best" quality on my Canon printer - it looks like an oil painting up close - then added Christmas red stickles to the berries on Santa's hat.  If you look closely, you can see that the sun captured a little bit of the sparkle.

The background embossing was done with a gorgeous Cuttlebug folder 'Holly with Berries'.  I LOVE this folder - it is so pretty.

The bottom border was made with an old temperamental Woodware punch which was almost impossible to line up to get a perfect edge which made me grumpy 'cos I wasted alot of cardstock to get an edge that I still wasn't happy with {sigh}.  Love the design - but it's not worth the angst!  I have a Martha Stewart Around the page Holly Leaves punch from Fat Cat's Card Corner on order which I will get in the mail next week - I CAN'T WAIT to get it so I can kick my other punch to kingdom-come LOL!

I added the red pearls on the punched border so you would look at them instead of the uneven punching!

The GIANT pearl on the ribbon is not actually a pearl - it is a 30+ years old button which I inherited from a haberdashery shop my family had back in the 1970's.  I have quite a button collection......  All I did with this red pearl button was cut off the shank and glue it to the ribbon.  Just goes to show you should never throw anything out............

The sentiment was heat-embossed with gold embossing powder, and both the image and sentiment are up on mounts (dimensionals).
