Celebrity fave Deborah Lippmann has taken Hollywood by storm with her gorgeous and glittering nail polish shades. Just type "Deborah Lippmann" into google and you will be bombarded by a plethora of nail polish enthusiasts praising her nail varnish. I must say when I received the chance to review two of Deborah Lippmann's polishes I was a bit skeptical if they would live up to the hype...I mean they're just nail polish...right? Read on to learn more about Deborah Lippmann and my lacquer review below...
A bit about Deborah Lippmann
Deborah Lippmann is the 'go-to' manicurist for the most fashionable magazines {Vogue, InStyle, W, Vanity Fair, Italian Vogue} and most renowned fashion houses {Versace, Valentino, Donna Karan, and Zac Posen}. Her eponymous line of lacquers and treatments for nails, hands, and feet are as coveted as her incredible talent.
Dubbed 'one of the best manicurists in the country' by Allure and a 'mega manicurist' by Vogue Deborah is widely respected as the best of the best. The Deborah Lippmann Collection was born when Deborah designed a custom shade for Mariah Carey to be worn at the 1998 Academy Awards. Deborah mixed the special beige-nude color {dubbed 'Satin Doll'} to complement Mariah's dress.
The Deborah Lippmann collection now consists of over 45 long-wearing lacquer shades, along with specialty treatments for nails, hands, and feet. The Deborah Lippmann Collection is frequently featured in top magazines, spotted backstage at fashion shows, and painted on the tips of the worlds most notable women. Kate Winslet, Reese Witherspoon, Renee Zellweger, and Penelope Cruz were all manicured by Deborah and wore nail polish from her collection to accept their Oscars.
My Review
I was sent 'Some Enchanted Evening' and 'Whatever Lola Wants' nail lacquers from The Deborah Lippmann Collection to review.
Whatever Lola Wants
....Lola gets! A fun little behind the scenes tid-bit is that this shade was created with celebrity, Kelly Ripa. I am guessing Mrs. Ripa named the shade after her daughter, Lola. The shade is described as a sassy, sparkling lilac/lavender {Sheer Shimmer}. On my olive skin this lacquer looks like a light shimmery powder pink with a bit of silver shimmer. The lacquer glides on smoothly and the color base makes it a perfect compliment color to basically any other nail polish shade. It is sheer so you will need a few coats if you plan on wearing this alone. It is shimmery, feminine, and a shade that I love. Sure, I may not be Lola but I got what I wanted anyway!
Some Enchanted Evening
...you may meet a stranger! It is described as a 'pink salmon shimmer' and it is exactly that. The lacquer is made up of a sheer base studded with silver, rose-salmon pink glitter in large hexagons and smaller glitter mixed throughout. Some Enchanted Evening is definitely a layering polish-sure, you could wear it on its own but for me layered over another polish it is truly a force to be reckoned with. Some Enchanted Evening is an absolutely gorgeous lacquer and reminds me of the colors in a warm summer sunset in Hawaii.
I am extremely impressed with both of the Deborah Lippmann varnishes I was able to review. They wear extremely well {my nails didn't start chipping until a week after I had applied the polish-and for a mother of two that is just unheard of!} and are two of the prettiest shades I have ever had the pleasure of wearing. The shades sparkle and shimmer and I have never received so many inquiries on nail polish in my life! I have come to the conclusion that Deborah Lippmann polishes aren't just varnish or lacquers they are art for your fingers...each unique in their own right.
Deborah Lippmann Lacquers are available online at Apothica.com, LippmannCollection.com, Amazon.com and available at fine retailers; Nordstroms, Neiman Marcus, and Lord and Taylor.
P.S.
Did you know that ALL Deborah Lippmann lacquers are free of formaldehyde, toluene and dibutyl phthalate (toxins)...oh and NO animal testing...so wonderful, right?!
