Spoonful of Comfort Review and Giveaway

One of the hardest moments of my life was seeing both my Mother and Sister go through  Cancer while I was away at college. I always wished I could sent something thoughtful, creative, and personal. I am so grateful to Marti Wymer for starting Spoonful of Comfort where you can actually send Chicken Noodle Soup, Bread, and Cookies to a loved one {or even yourself}! There is nothing more comforting then a bowlful of warm soup when you are feeling sick and with Spoonful of Comfort you can send your loved one "Well Wishes" from no matter where you are located!

A Bit about Spoonful of Comfort

In October 2007, Marti Wymer {Spoonful of Comforts owner/creator}  received a phone call from her mother informing Marti that she had been diagnosed with Lung Cancer.
Marti was shocked, scared and panicked. The hardest part about hearing the news, was that Marti's mom lived in New Brunswick Canada and Marti lived in Florida. More difficult still, Marti had just returned the day before from a trip visiting her mother and with two young children in school, Marti couldn’t just turn around and go back.

Marti was so upset and felt helpless being so far away. She needed to “Do Something”. She looked into sending flowers or fruit, but nothing seemed appropriate. Marti wanted to show her Mother just how much she cared, and in some way comfort her. Marti immediately thought of Chicken soup –  its what her mom used to make to comfort her. And the idea for Spoonful of Comfort was born.

My Review
I was sent a 64 oz. Jar of Chicken Noodle Soup, a 1/2 dozen package of Oatmeal Raisin Cookies, and a 1/2 dozen package of Rolls from Spoonful of Comfort to review. The Chicken Noodle Soup, rolls, and cookies came lovingly packaged all with their own cute yellow bows. I was a bit skeptical how Spoonful of Comfort could send Chicken Noodle Soup all the way around the United States but the soup came in perfect condition in a glass jar surrounded by a gel cool pack that kept the soup cold and fresh. The soup does need to be refrigerated right away and eaten within 2-3 days of receiving it {I don't think that will be a problem for anyone though!}. My daughter, husband, and I ate the soup together for dinner and we enjoyed it. The soup has delicious chunks of chicken, flat noodles, and carrots, all surrounded by a delicious, rich, and hearty chicken broth. We ate the soup with the delicious "Made from Scratch" Rolls that were moist, soft, and delicious! Dessert was the Oatmeal Raisin cookies that were thick, rich, moist and studded with plump raisins...a delicious treat for sure!  The Chicken Noodle soup will set you back $32 and to add 1/2 dozen rolls and cookies will set you back another $12...but honestly a beautiful bunch of  fresh flowers would cost you about the same...why not send something a bit more personal and choose Spoonful of Comfort...believe me your loved ones will thank you...and so will their tummies!
