FIFA World Cup 2010 is near and Central Bank of Brazil had been launching commemorative coin for 2010 Fifa World Cup last week. The face value is of R$ 5 (about U$ 2.6). The sale price is 108 reais (about 60 U.S. dollars) and the coins can be purchased in the regional offices of the Central Bank in 10 Brazilian cities. The maximum circulation of the currency will be 25,000 pieces, which will be marketed in Brazil and abroad. FIFA have set the value and companies authorized to sell the currency outside of Brazil.
On the obverse of the coin shows a landscape of the African Savannah with a soccer player in composition with the map of Africa, with particular reference to South Africa with particular reference to South Africa. The reverse side highlights the image of two players on the move with the ball, against the background of the stylized Brazilian flag.
Brazil was one of the countries invited by FIFA to join the program World Cup numismatic emissions, along with Portugal, France, Spain, Germany, Australia and several others, besides South Africa itself. The special numismatic international are an international practice that has as main objective to spread the history and cultural identity of a nation, consolidating the monetary standard in the country and abroad. The Central Bank reported on commemorative coins sporting events of national interest, as the releases for the tetra championship World Cup (1994), the Pentacampeonato (2002) and the XV Pan American Games (2007).
