"You learn something new every day". I'm sure you've all heard this saying a number of times in your lifetime, but how true is it? I decided to think back through October, and list some things I learned. They're not mindblowing lessons, or particularly profound lessons, but they're lessons nevertheless. The 31 things I learned during October:
1. Singed hair is not a good look, and my long hair will always be tucked out of the way when I'm cooking. I speak from experience here kids - sizzled ends are not cool.
2. Breakfast is good. I've been back on my healthy eating kick and have been enjoying yummy yet low-fat breakfasts in the form of filling porridge with fruit, honey and almonds, homemade frozen berry smoothies (yum!), and a low(ish) fat full English.
3. I love blogging. My blog was a little bit neglected throughout September and the start of October. My NVQ became a priority so my blog got put to the sidelines - and I bloody well missed it! I really, thoroughly enjoy blogging, and have only experienced lots of love and positivity - so thank you!
4. How to use Sky +. We've had it a while but I had to rely on Mr Lollipop to record my programmes or set reminders. I know how to do it myself now. Yay me not being such a technical dullard anymore! Oh, by the way, how did I live without it? Best invention. Ever!
5. Sky + is the worst thing to be invented. Ever! Now Mr Lollipop can record every single bit of sport, so guess what is always on the TV? Yeah... if I have to hear much more fooball commentry, wrestling results, or rugby games, I think I'll kill him.
6. I am in desperate need of a good, girly night out involving scrummy food and lots of booze. Desperate.
7. Ryan Reynolds is HOT!! I've never noticed before but wowza - he's lovely!
8. Life is too short and precious. A family friend died in a car accident last weekend, and just a day later my Mam's cousin lost his battle with cancer. It really makes me stop and take stock of my life and be thankful for everything and everyone I have in my life.
9. Toads don't have babies, toads have tadpoles. It was my first day back in work last Monday after a week off and within minutes I was shouted at over the phone, had 3 plasters on my fingers, and discovered a hibernating toad behind the bin. He was rescued, but he was still disgusting. He was a bit squished and looked like poo. I got paranoid that he left babies behind, but toads don't have babies - they have tadpoles. D'oh.
10. McDonald's now deliver. Well, not really, but a local guy has set up a service where he'll go through the drive-thru and then deliver it for you. There always seems to be a huge demand for a McD's delivery service on my Facebook dashboard on Sundays (ie. hangover days) so if I had thought of it (and could drive) I could make a killing!
11. I need to learn to drive. It's never bothered me before but clearly, I'm missing out.
12. Even in this cold weather, I adore living on the beach. I love the pitch black evenings where you can see nothing but lights out at sea, and it's so serene with just the sound of waves lapping at the shore. It's my favourite time to walk the dog, even if it's freezing. Even earlier in the day it is gorgeous. And even in the rain. The beach is awesome.
13. Glittery nail polish is fun. Yeah, it's still tacky, but I love it.
14. Some things are just meant to be. Like Robbie rejoining Take That.
15. And some things are just not meant to be. Like me having tickets for the Take That tour :(
16. When I set my mind to it, I can be quite a creative little bee, and successfully decorated the house for my Mam's Halloween Birthday.
17. YooMoo make the best frozen yoghurts - fact! My personal favourite is the BerryTwistMoo, which is strawberry and natural frozen yoghurt topped with fresh strawberries and white chocolate buttons. Yum! Nicer than ice cream in my opinion, with less calories. Win-win!
18. Typing with false nails is nigh on impossible.
19. Me + Heels + Wet cobbled hills = DISASTER!
20. How to use the new Twitter. Finally!
21. When the clocks go back, you only gain an extra hour in bed if you can actually sleep. Otherwise, it's just a really long day.
22. Titan the Robot is AMAZING! So much better in person than on Big Brother.
23. I would quite like a tattoo. One that doesn't hurt though please!
24. I actually like apple pie. After years and years of hating it, I've been craving it something rotten.
25. Despite what we believe, Mr L and I aren't totally unlucky. He's been waiting for months to hear about a promotion. Well, they're closing the shop he would've moved to had he got the job. Phew!
26. Boots in Cardiff has the worst Barry M stand ever. Not only is it not up to date, almost everything had been opened and tested. Bleurgh.
27. My make up collection needs downsizing and my wardrobe needs expanding. I spend far too much on make up and not enough on clothes, I'd love to revamp my Winter wardrobe!
28. Mr Lollipop can actually cook! His talents usually only extend to taking something from the freezer and putting it in the oven, so I was delighted to come home from work one day to see that he had made a pasta salad for our work lunches, had baked some delicious scones (and bought my favourite jam and clotted cream to accompany them), and was preparing to make some tasty Spanish Chicken, a la Nigella. I'm looking forward to a repeat performance soon!
29. Cher Lloyd is better at singing than rapping. I loved her first audition but have hated her ever since - that is until she sang one of my favourite songs on Saturday - Stay by Shakespeare Sister. She was fanbloodytastic!
30. As long as gifts are boxed, I can wrap them in a pretty way. If they're not boxed, I gotta hope for the best!
31. And finally - Christmas is only 55 sleeps away. Well, 53 sleeps from today, but it was 55 on October 31st.
So... did you learn something new every day?
xoxo
