10 Tips for Planning a Unique Baby Shower

Okay Ladies, I know you all have been there...a good friend is pregnant and you want to be sweet and throw a fun and unique baby shower. Where to start? It can be overwhelming, believe me-been there done that...but there is no need to freak out...a unique and fun baby shower CAN be done...here are 10 Tips for doing it right...

1. Get the Word out-AKA: Get invitations...I highly recommend Tiny Prints Baby Shower Invitations...they are classy, well priced, and beautiful!

2. Play FUN games- Some examples:
Don't Say B-A-B-Y-Each guest is given a clothes pin upon arrival to the shower and told not to say the word B-A-B-Y for the remainder of the party. If the guest says B-A-B-Y they must forfeit their clothes pin over to the person who caught them saying the word. The guest with the most Clothespin at the end of the party wins a small prize!
Dirty Diaper-Buy some diapers and a few different Chocolate bars. Heat the Chocolate Bars in the microwave and spread the melted chocolate on each diaper before the guests arrive {make sure to number the diapers so YOU don't forget which is which!}. When its time to play the game pass around the diapers...each guest must smell the diapers to see if they can guess the correct candy bar hidden in each. Its funny to see each guest sniff the diapers!

3.Food- Food can be a fun element to the baby shower. Don't feel like you have to provide it all...you can assign food assignments and have each guest bring a dessert, snack, or beverage with them to share.

4.Clothing-If the Mother-to-Be knows the gender of her baby have everyone dress in the gender specific color...ie, BOY-Green/Blue/Yellow Girl-Pink, Purple

5. Gifts-Gifts can have a theme...you can ask each person to bring different themed gifts such as;
  • Bathtime
  • Mealtime
  • Clothing
  • Diaper Time
  • Nap Time
  • Playtime
6. Advice Jar-Each guest can write down a piece of Motherly advice for the Mom to be or it can just be as simple as a sweet message wishing her well with her new little one.

7. Personalize the Day-If family members can't be present ask them to send along personal messages to the Mother-to-Be either through a videotape or a written message.

8. Have FUN prizes- A "Baby Making Kit" would be funny for one of the guests it could include...lingerie, candles, bubble bath, and scented lotion! Don't feel obligated to spend a lot of money lots of fun things can be found at outlets and even the dollar store!

9. Include the Father {if possible}- Have the Father-to-Be write a letter to the Mom-to-Be letting her know his feelings for her and the little one.

10. Pamper the Mom-to-Be-Its easy for the Mom-to-Be to get overwhelmed by all the fun and attention...make sure you ask her if she needs anything and be willing to help get food or a beverage for her. This is her party and her time to be pampered!

I hope some of these tips will help you out! Enjoy and have fun!
