Why did you start your Etsy shop?
I actually "attempted" to open my shop over a year ago. I tried selling photos I've taken with not much luck and not much knowledge of how to make it in the etsy world. I knew I had to come up with something people would want and something that was one of a kind. I took a break and only just a month ago it came to me- I could do dog silhouettes cut out from vintage and unique papers! It was a lightbulb moment. I have a miniature dapple dachshund and I work from home so he's my best friend. We spend every day together and he's my inspiration for everything that I do.. oh and my husband too ;-)
How many Sales do you have?
Since I opened just over a month ago I have had 21 sales! Great compared to the 2 sales I had in one year of not doing the dog silhouettes. I'm excited for the future of this shop. Most of the pieces I've sold were actually custom. I love doing custom pieces because it's more meaningful to the customer and it will stay in their home. It's a great feeling knowing that you're making something that people will cherish and tell others about. I especially like doing breeds I may not have even heard of! Sometimes if you have a unique breed of dog, you may not find as many items that feature that dog. I can do any breed since they are custom!
Whats your favorite item?
It's not a fair question in a way, I'm bias towards the dachshund silhouettes. I really love the floral love piece, it was actually one of the first ones I've made. Not sure why it hasn't sold, but I think each piece has a certain owner that will come along, it's just a matter of time.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I recently moved to Newport Beach about 6 months ago from the desert of Arizona. It's so wonderful here and I love to go to the beach! I also am a dog photographer, I organize a dachshund group in OC, and I volunteer for a local rescue. It's all about making a difference one person or dog at a time. I also was a basketball player from second grade until college so I love to play sports as well.
Your Favorite Movie?
I really don't have a favorite actually. I recently have gotten addicted to shows, but usually not a huge tv person. Is that weird I don't have a favorite!? haha I could list a lot of movies that I do love, but to narrow it down to one would be hard.
Favorite Dessert?
Now this is my kind of question! My other thing I do in my spare time is bake. I LOVE any kind of dessert but mostly cake. I love frosting to narrow it down closer, the sweeter the better! I experiment with cupcakes at least a couple times a month. It's fun and I will never turn down an offer to go get dessert.
Favorite Holiday?
There isn't one in particular that is my favorite, but I do enjoy christmas with the family. Since I moved away from my family, any excuse to see them again is great. I feel like the spirit during christmas is a happy time with lots of giving which is wonderful.
