Review : Lush Vanilla Dee-Lite body lotion

Mr Lollipop bought this for me last year when I was feeling a bit down. I'd used it prior to that, but only as samples from Lush. I've been using it sporadically since the summer, but I've used it every day for the last 2 weeks because Project Bathroom is preventing me from repurchasing my favourite body butter.

What do Lush say?
Delightfully soothing, creamily smoothing, vanilla scented lotion for your body and hands. With natural coconut and illipe butters and vitamin-packed, fresh kiwi fruit. Use it to make your skin soft.

What do I think?
The thing with Project Bathroom is that it makes you discover some hidden gems. I've always loved the Vanilla range from Lush because it smells absolutely delicious - and this lotion is no exception. It's not a sickly, sweet, ice cream vanilla scent, but quite a grown up, musky vanilla scent. It's quite a subtle scent, and not over-powering at all. This lotion smells even nicer than the other things in the range for some reason - a little sweeter perhaps? Whatever the difference, it smells fan-bloody-tastic. The yummy scent lingers on your skin and I still get a waft of it when I come home from work and change out of my uniform. Mr Lollipop loves the smell of this too - he always tells me I smell nice when I use it :) It is such a decadent scent that it feels like a luxurious treat when I slather this on.

I have been using this every morning after my shower. I don't normally use a body cream or lotion in the mornings because I don't like the uncomfortable, sticky/greasy feeling you get with some lotions... yuck! However, this lotion doesn't give you that feeling.

See how thin it is?

It isn't overly thick and not overly thin - it's the perfect consistency for a lotion actually. A little bit really goes a long way, and as a guide a 50p size blob is enough to moisturise both arms completely, and leave some spare to concentrate on my dry elbows. It absorbs really quickly so I don't have to hang around waiting for it to sink in before I get dressed, which is ideal for when I'm pushed for time in the mornings. It feels really light on my skin which means there is no sticky residue, and it doesn't leave me feeling greasy either.

This teeny weeny blob is enough to moisturise both hands and wrists generously!

I love the results with Vanilla Dee-Lite. My skin feels soft and hydrated, and looks really healthy. One downside though is that because it is a light lotion, I need to moisturise again at bedtime. I normally use a thick, rich body butter at night, and that is usually sufficient enough to moisturise my skin for a good 24 hours. Some people are used to applying lotions twice a day though, so if you are one of those people then you won't find that a problem. I don't mind applying more at bedtime. The gorgeous, soothing scent relaxes me and I find it easier to drop off to sleep.

Another downside is the price. Despite only needing a little bit, I've used up half a bottle (with twice daily applications), in about 2 weeks. At £10.75 per bottle, it's a little pricey to repurchase every 4 weeks. My normal body butter costs just under £8 per tub, and that lasts me for about 6 months. In comparison, you can see my reservations. Again, if you are used to spending £10 a month on a body moisturiser, the price may not be a factor that bothers you.

Price?
The only size available is a 250g bottle, and that costs £10.75.

Would I repurchase?
Yes, absolutely, but only as a little treat for myself. It's not going to achieve Holy-Grail daily moisturiser status, but for something a little special once in a while this is perfect. It could easily become my HG moisturiser though - there just needs to be a bit more product for the price.

Hope you found this review helpful :)

xoxo
