Hello my dears! There hasn't been much action on the Blogger/Twitter front this week, but that's because I'm poorly sick :( The flu that has been sweeping through my household missed me (so far) and instead I've been blessed with tonsilitis, for what seems like the billionth time in my life. Why the doctors won't just take out my tonsils I don't know! Still, at least I can communicate with you guys through the art of typing ;) Haha.
If you do follow me on Twitter, you may know that my mobile phone broke last week. My new one just got delivered though - I got a Samsung Genio. I was holding out for an iPhone but I don't want to change from Orange to O2, and I don't think I could go 3/4 months without a phone, which is when it comes to Orange! So yeah.. I can use Twitter and Facebook on this one so I'm happy, and it's still a touchscreen which I loooooove. That was my favourite thing about my other phone (LG Cookie)... I'm rambling now... the purpose of this post isn't to tell you about my phone, but to tell you about some other things that I got this week. Some MAC things! Woohoo!
The current Style Black and DSquared collections do not inspire me in the slightest. I would like a black lipstick, but I think I'm going to go for Urban Decay's Oil Slick instead. It seems a lot more sheer than MAC's version, which is just what I'm after. MAC's collections have been quite hit and miss for me lately. Last Autumn's Cult of Cherry collection was (and still is) my favourite MAC collection ever, and if I could have, I would've bought every single thing as the colours were very 'me' and perfect for the colder weather. However, my budget couldn't stretch to more than a quad and a lipgloss. By the time my next payday arrived, I had missed out on the Spiced Chocolate quad, and I've been kicking myself ever since. The same happened with Lollipop Loving lipstick. I wasn't really into MAC when the Heatherette collection was released, and I missed out again when it was re-released with the Sugarsweet collection.
eBay was obviously the first port of call in the hunt for these products, but many sellers on there hike up their prices, and I'm sorry, no amount of wanting on my part is going to make me part with £25+ for a lipstick I could've bought for £11 if I was quick enough. This is where love-makeup.co.uk comes in. This is a website that's full of Limited Edition things, not only from MAC either.
I've never bought from the site before, but I check it regularly to see if there is anything I *must* have. I had a shitty day in work on Friday and it affected me for the rest of the weekend, so I bought some things I've been lusting after to cheer myself up. So... I finally bought Spiced Chocolate and Lollipop Loving for £50.98 - about £10 more than what it would have cost to buy them from MAC last year. I'm happy(ish!) with that. I ordered them on Sunday afternoon and they arrived on Tuesday morning, and I paid for the normal delivery which takes 2-5 days, so I'm impressed.
Do they live up to my expectations? HELL YES!! Spiced Chocolate is a good, matte, warm dark brown that I know I'll get lots of use out of, and Brash is the most beautiful shade of copper I've seen in a long time, and it is so pigmented! Sweet Chestnut seems a little bit like Sketch, but with a burgundy frost, and Nanogold looks pretty in the pan. It's a very pale creamy/gold colour with pretty pink frost. Now, if only I could get it to swatch properly! With Lollipop Loving - I think it goes without saying how gorgeous this colour is. It's a pinky coral with a gold/green shimmer. I love it! Here are some obligatory swatches to show you the prettiness.
I was going to post a FOTD, but I haven't worn make up this week. I'm back in work tomorrow so if I remember I'll take some pictures and show you then. I hope it's inspired some of you to rediscover your love for old favourites xx
