Look Ma! The Celery is......Red!
Apium graveolens or more commonly known as the humble celery, is undergoing a makeover! We have all come to know celery as the cool, green, crisp stalks, in its root form or as seeds. We use it mainly to add flavor to our dishes. Now, how about adding flavor AND color to your dishes? A Florida farm, Duda Fresh Foods has come up with the Red Celery (here's a link to the producer's info page) seen above. According to their web page, it is a natural product that was grown from heirloom seeds. Hopefully, this is not a Frankenstein genetically-modified plant. So, if this thing takes off, we may find this product on our supermarket shelves pretty soon.
