I admit I don't take as much care of my feet as I should. I am on them for 8 hours a day, with my tootsies crammed into boring and ugly sensible and work-friendly shoes, and during the Winter they're snuggled into my comfy Uggs, never to see the light of day. As you can imagine, they resemble sandpaper and are in desperate need of some TLC. The recent sunshine has made me want to whip out my poor, neglected, dry and cracked feet and pamper them to within an inch of their lives, so that I have an excuse to treat myself to some gorgeous Summer sandals.
Flexitol Heel Balm is a basic, no-frills product, but is an absolute necessity if you need your feet to look in tip-top condition. My friend recommended this to me years and years ago, and it's become a staple in my Preparing-For-Summer routine every year.
What do Flexitol say?
Erm... not much. All of the info I can find both on the internet and packaging just give usage instructions. So... "Apply Flexitol Heel Balm to rough, dry and thickened skin on feet. Apply twice daily, morning and night. Once the skin is restored continue to use to maintain condition." Helpful, huh?
What do I say?
This is a really rich and creamy lotion that feels soothing as you rub it in. I have deep cracks but this doesn't sting or irritate them in the slightest. You only need to use a little bit to cover your whole foot, but I like to put an extra layer on my problematic areas, namely my heels. It does turn greasy as your skin is absorbing it, so you're best bet is to just use it at night rather than the twice a day as recommended. Just slap it on, pop on a pair of socks, and nod off to dreamland while it works it's magic.
It can take the most calloused, cracked and dry-skinned feet and restore them to sandal-worthiness in just a matter of days, and that's no exaggeration. Now, I hate using any creams or lotions on my feet. I think they feel too greasy and leave a slight sweaty feeling. I also loathe wearing socks to bed, so the thought of using this lotion then wearing socks every night isn't very pleasant, but that's the beauty of this product. Unlike other foot creams you don't need to use this every night. Once your feet are at their best, just use the Heel Balm once or twice a week to help maintain their softness.
The only thing that lets this down is the smell. Oh my gosh it is absolutely hideous! It's a strange, overpowering, medical sort of smell, and it just reeks. You'll need to give your hands a good scrub after applying the Heel Balm and once you've put socks on it's not as noticable, but it's definitely there.
Price?
I've got a great big 200g tube that cost around £20, which sounds expensive but it is 100% worth it. You don't need a lot either so it'll last you a long, long time. It is also available in 56g tube for around £5, and a 112g tube for around £10. It is available in Boots, Superdrug and other leading pharmacies.
Would I repurchase?
Yep, absolutely! This is probably my 3rd tube of the stuff, so the fact that I actually have repurchased it numerous times goes to show how much I love it.
Hope you found my review helpful! It's not the prettiest or most glamourous product to review, but essential nevertheless! :)
xoxo
